Ashley Puzemis, an actress and model from Michigan, made her debut as Holly Jonas on Days of Our Lives in October 2023. She is the daughter of the late Dr. Daniel Jonas and Nicole Walker and has a complicated family history. Eric Brady raised her and she soon became a pivotal character in the show.

In January 2017, Brady visits Nancy at Salem Inn. She asks him to watch Holly while she showers. Brady takes a sample of Holly's saliva and places it in a bag. Nancy, noticing his nervousness, checks his pockets and finds the swab. She switches it with her own. Brady gets the swab tested and learns the sample was compromised, making the test inconclusive.
Nancy informs Nicole that she’s taking Holly back to Chicago to be with her family, Craig and Parker. Nicole, holding Holly, reminisces about Chloe giving birth. Nancy, touched by overhearing Nicole talking to Holly about their bond, is about to reveal the truth when Deimos enters.

On January 23 in Days of Our Lives, Brady confronts Chloe, demanding to know if Holly is Daniel and Nicole's baby. Chloe denies it but Brady insists both he and Deimos know the truth. He mentions Deimos slipping up and speaking about an embryo while under the influence of truth serum. Chloe continues to deny the information until Brady threatens her. Chloe confesses everything and Brady insists they must tell Nicole the truth today.
Nicole is devastated upon learning the truth but later smiles after realizing Holly is her daughter. She sobs as she soaks in the fact that she is a mother "after all the pain and loss and desperation" she went through.
Chloe claims she kept the baby out of love, blaming Deimos. They argue, and Nicole demands her child, calling Chloe a monster. Nicole tries to leave to get her child, but Brady stops her. Nicole is arrested for attempted murder and cries and begs to hold her baby, but she's not allowed.
After a custody battle, which Chloe wins, she plans to move to New York with Holly. She files a restraining order against Nicole, who assaults her and kidnaps Holly.
Nicole and Holly are then robbed at a motel by Tiffany and her boyfriend. Brady and his son Tate come to their aid, and they all flee to Canada in Days of Our Lives. There, Nicole and Brady fall in love and plan a future together. However, Kiriakis breaks in, shooting Brady and kidnapping Nicole and Holly. Eric then intervenes, rescuing Holly and reuniting her with Nicole, who is later saved by the police.
Child services later places Holly in foster care, deeming Nicole unfit to look after the youngster in Days of Our Lives. Maggie visits occasionally, and Nicole sees Holly with her foster mother. However, she stops herself from revealing her identity, comforting Holly instead.
On August 18, Nicole remembers Deimos' plot to keep her from Holly and stabs him in Days of Our Lives. With Brady's help, she regains custody by blackmailing a corrupt judge in September 2017. In 2020, Holly calls Eric "daddy" during a visit to Mackenzie's grave, marking a pivotal moment in the series.

Back at the mansion, it is clear Holly has a crush on Johnny DiMera. However, the arrival of Johnny's grandmother Susan interrupts her confession to him. Nicole later tells Holly she ran into Tate, who mentioned Holly is in love with someone.
When Tate texts her to hang out, Holly angrily calls him a big mouth and says he is dead to her. Tate then visits his half-sister Rachel and reconciles with Holly, but warns her that Johnny, her crush, is older and will soon be her stepbrother. However, Holly remains determined to be with Johnny.
Nicole and EJ then announce an earlier wedding date, upsetting Holly. She lies to Johnny, claiming she has a crush on EJ, and ultimately accepts the situation and serves as Nicole's bridesmaid, opposite Johnny as EJ's groomsman.
