There may yet be some flicker of hope for LSU concerning Dakorien Moore’s commitment. Moore withdrew his commitment from the Tigers earlier this week. However, the five-star prospect has now added more intrigue to his recruitment story as he announced in a tweet that said:

“My recruitment is not opened up.”

Moore posted the statement on Friday, May 17, within hours after he posted the news of his decommitment on the same platform. It is hard to say exactly what the top WR prospect of the 2025 class means by his statement. However, different groups may want to interpret it in ways that suit them, especially fans of the schools still actively recruiting him.

Exploring Dakorien Moore’s recruitment journey

It needs no telling the kind of clout that has characterized Dakorien Moore’s recruitment. Moore is a star, the nation’s top-ranked wide receiver and the No. 3 overall prospect of the 2025 class. He has 34 offers, including some from the crème de la crème of college football, such as Alabama, Texas, Ohio State and LSU.

With this incredible array of options to choose from, Moore carefully bided his time before announcing his commitment to LSU in Aug. 2023.

Why did Dakorien Moore decommit from LSU?

Dakorien Moore did not give any specific reason for withdrawing his commitment from LSU. When he announced his commitment to the Tigers last August, he expressed what a great pleasure it was for him to take the action. Playing for the Tigers was a childhood dream for him. He said, “I’ve been wanting to play there since I was little, so you can’t change my dream.”

However, it became obvious that the dream was taking a hit in April. He revealed he was still open to considering offers from Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas. But he wasn't sure what would sway him away from his commitment to the Tigers.

“I really can’t put it into words. I’m really just seeing what everybody else has got to offer. Of course, what LSU showed me got me to commit, so that’s where I’m at. But I’m really just seeing the little things piece by piece, seeing what everybody else has got to show me,” Moore said to On3’s Chad Simmons in April.

The little things have finally swayed Dakorien Moore from his commitment to the Tigers. Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, and, to a good extent, LSU, remain the major contenders.
