BLACKPINK is reported to have a comeback in 2025 as per South Korean media. Etoday reported on May 13, 2024, that Hana Securities cut its target stock price for YG Entertainment from 64,000 won to 58,000 won due to the dearth of musicians.

According to researcher Lee Ki-hoon of Hana Securities, earnings as a result of BLACKPINK's absence were not as strong as anticipated, leading them to lower their prediction to about KRW 20 billion ($14.7 million) this year and KRW 90 billion ($66.4 million) the next year.

He further added that it is paramount that more than one new group debuts each year since the fluctuating stock price has caused concerns among investors due to BLACKPINK's hiatus.

Concurrently, BLACKPINK terminated its solo agreements with YG Entertainment and established its individual companies. However, as the band simply extended their group arrangement with the firm, the alleged comeback group release will fall within YG Entertainment's purview.

BLACKPINK members to have solo releases lined up for 2024

BLACKPINK members Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa terminated their exclusive solo contracts with YG Entertainment in December 2023 and called quits on their 7-year alliance with the company. However, the members decided to renew their contract as a group with the same company.

Jennie announced the official launch of her company ODDATELLIER (OA) on December 24, 2023, and stated that she would focus on solo endeavors in 2024. Following her bandmate, Lisa established her company LLOUD in February 2024 and delighted her fans with several solo projects such as joining the primary cast of HBO's The White Lotus, launching a new line with BULGARI, and more.

Later, Jisoo introduced her company BLISSOO on February 15, 2024, and officially posted her new appointment as Self Portrait's brand ambassador. This announcement was followed by reports of her filming in Seoul for her upcoming zombie K-drama Influenza.

Lisa then signed a partnership with American music house RCA Records and was reported to film a music video for her upcoming solo album. However, Rosé has not announced signing any agreement with any record label so far.

As of May 17, 2024, Rosé confirmed working on her solo music and shared a demo of her upcoming song Vampirehollie in February 2024. Since then there have been no updates about her album so far.

Meanwhile, in 2024, sales for the first quarter of YG Entertainment were KRW 87.3 billion ($64.4 million), 45% less than the same period the previous year. Operating profit was KRW 7 billion ($7.1 million), meaning the company was in the red (declining stock value).

The rationale is that substantial management sales were lacking, except for Treasure's Japanese tour and BABYMONSTER's single. Furthermore, the upfront costs of BABYMONSTER's investments were also included. Additionally, intangible asset amortization expenses from music copyright acquisitions and exclusive contracts were a strain.

In other news, BLACKPINK member Jennie was featured on Zico's single SPOT! which was released on April 26, 2024. She then attended the Met Gala on May 6, while BLACKPINK's Lisa was seen waving the chequered flag as the first K-pop artist at the Miami Grand Prix on the same day.

Rosé last attended Pharrell Williams' Tiffany & Co. Collection launch on May 3 while Jisoo was seen attending the Cartier event in Seoul a day earlier on May 2.
