Country singer Zac Brown reportedly seeks restraining order for Kelly Yazdi months after their divorce announcement

Grammy-winning country singer Zac Brown had filed a lawsuit against his estranged wife Kelly Yazdi over the latter’s Instagram posts. In the lawsuit, filed in Georgia, Brown alleged that one of Yazdi’s posts via her Instagram account broke the confidentiality agreement she had signed with Brown.

The Zac Brown Band frontman and founder argued that what she put online had tarnished his public image. This has prompted him to seek an emergency temporary restraining order that would force Yazdi to take down the said post, as per NBC News.

That said, the lawsuit being filed has not specified which Instagram post has been in violation. NBC News had confirmed the same along with a statement from Brown.

“I took the steps necessary” — Zac Brown commented on suing his estranged wife over an Instagram post

In a statement to NBC News regarding the lawsuit, Zac Brown mentioned the reason behind it was to protect his family “from online harassment and speculation.” He said:

“After much deliberation, I took the steps necessary to enforce an agreement between us to maintain personal and business affairs in confidence and to protect my family from online harassment and speculation.”

In the same statement, the Zac Brown Band lead singer asked for “mutual respect” and also referenced his divorce from his estranged wife. He mentioned:

“My only hope is for us to keep private matters private and to move forward with the mutual respect we had agreed to show one another when we parted ways.”

Zac Brown and Kelly Yazdi, who married in August 2023, had announced their separation late in December, only about four months after they tied the knot. In a December 29 statement, the pair released a joint statement, which read:

“We are in the process of divorce. Our mutual respect for one another remains. We wish each other the best and will always appreciate our time together. As we navigate this personal matter, we simply request privacy during this time.”

The marriage marked Brown’s second marriage and divorce, the first one being with his former wife Shelly Brown, whom he shares five children with.

As the frontman of the Zac Brown Band, which formed in 2002, Brown has won three Grammy awards, including the 2010 Best New Artist and 2013 Best Country Album. He has scored 34 hits on the Hot Country Songs chart on Billboard, including the band’s 2008 breakthrough smash hit Chicken Fried.

As for Kelly Yazdi, she’s an Iranian-American actress who gained fame in her portrayal of various supermodels in the internationally-acknowledged J.P.Getty Museum’s documentary Herb Ritts: L.A. Style.

Her credits also include The Beautiful Ones, Hawaii Five-O, and The Martial Arts Kid. Yazdi is also a stuntwoman who did the stunt for Katy Perry’s Katy Perry: Harleys in Hawaii music video.
