Bruins' Jeremy Swayman responds to home crowd chanting his name after suffering series loss to Panthers

Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman received appreciation from the home crowd after losing the series against the Florida Panthers. Following a 2-1 defeat in Game 6, Boston fans chanted Swayman's name during the handshake line, leaving the young goalie emotional.

In a post-game interview, Swayman expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, stating that the fans in Boston mean more to him than just being spectators; they are like family.

"Tears. I couldn't be more grateful to have a city, have a home base that's as supportive as Boston. They mean so much more than just fans to me; it's truly a home for me now. And here, that was above and beyond," Swayman said.

"I'm just so grateful for all the love and support, and we wouldn't be here without them. So, that was an incredible moment to be a part of."

In the last game of the series for Boston, Swayman's performance was worthy of praise despite a sad ending. He notched 26 saves in Game 6 despite playing under heavy playoff pressure. In his last six games in the second round, Swayman recorded a solid. 917 save percentage and 2.86 goals-against average.

Jeremy Swayman's future with the Bruins is bright, but he may continue to share playing time with Linus Ullmark in the 2024–25 season. As Swayman recognizes the Boston fans' backing, it becomes evident that he will play a significant part for the Bruins over the next few seasons.

Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins faced a tough loss in Game 6 against the Florida Panthers. This was their second playoff exit, losing to Florida for two consecutive seasons.

Despite that, Swayman received love and respect from his teammates.

“A lot of guys have a lot of respect for him in this room. He got us to this point. He pretty much won us the Toronto series. Kept us in that. I know goalies feel like every mistake is a goal. But sometimes it’s not even a mistake. He covered for a lot of ours," Jake DeBrusk said (via the athletic.com)

"That’s what guys were saying. ‘Just keep your head up, man. You’re a stud.’ He really took his game off in the playoffs. He should be proud of that,”

Jeremy Swayman's contract is up for renewal, with expectations of a significant raise.
