USA Gymnastics major events leading to the Olympics: Exploring the Road to Paris Olympics 2024 for top gymnasts

USA Gymnastics has released a list of important dates for events that could prove to be crucial for the artistic gymnasts’ qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The artistic gymnastics at the Olympic Games in Paris will start on July 27 and end on August 5.

The 2024 Xfinity U.S. Championships are the first major event in the upcoming days for the gymnasts who are aiming for a bid for the Paris Olympics.

Set from May 30 to June 2, the championships will be staged at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. National champions in men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics will be crowned to help finalize the national team rosters competing for Olympic spots.

The gymnasts will then participate in securing their berth in the Olympics team at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Gymnastics. The trials will take place in the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minnesota between June 27 and 30.

Based on the performances of the gymnasts in this tournament, the USA Gymnastics squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics will be chosen.

The USA Gymnastics men’s team and women’s team are set to be announced on June 29 and June 30 after the completion of the events at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Gymnastics.

Day 1 and 2 of the men’s events will take place on June 27 and 29, respectively, while Day 1 and Day 2 of the women’s events are scheduled for June 28 and 30.

Top USA gymnasts, including Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Shilese Jones, and Frederick Richard among others, are set to take part in the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Gymnastics.

The USA Gymnastics team collected six medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics held in 2021, including two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals each.

The gold medals for the USA at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics came from Sunisa Lee in the women’s all-around and Jade Carey in the floor exercise events. Lee came first with 57.433 points, while Jade Carey scored 14.366 points to win the floor event.

In the women’s team event, Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Lee, and Grace McCallum won the silver medal with a combined 166.096 points, only behind the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). MyKayla Skinner earned the silver in the vault event, scoring 14.916.

Sunisa Lee also clinched the bronze in the uneven bars with a total of 14.500. Meanwhile, Biles scored 14.000 in the finals of the balance beam, executing a scaled-down routine after experiencing Twisties at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
