On Monday, April 21, Lizzo called out the White House in multiple Bluesky posts, claiming it was using social media to "troll" them and pushing for "real change."
The About Damn Time singer wrote in her first post:
"I want real change, and I know what it takes to see real change on a systemic level. Protests bring attention to demands. Marches without demands bear no fruit. Demands without a plan or an ultimatum aren’t threatening to any regime."
In a follow-up post explaining how to make real change, Lizzo claimed that hurting the pockets of white people was the only way. The Worship singer went on to add that the system was designed for their "economic benefit," which is why white supremacy was to blame for the corruption today.
The YITTY founder then added:
"White people have to come together & educate themselves on the system & be willing to be uncomfortable in it. Unify."
As the 36-year-old replied to the comments made by her followers, the rapper wrote an all-caps post targeting Donald Trump, in which she wrote:
"THE WHITE HOUSE IS USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO TROLL US. THE PRESIDENT DGAF ABOUT TONE POLICING HIMSELF. REPUBLICANS ARE TALKING OUT THEY NECKLACE TO JOURNALISTS. WE HAVE TO BE BOLDER."
This isn't the first time the Jerome singer has spoken about politics. Billboard reports that she was a vocal supporter of Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential campaign.
Lizzo made a jab at Donald Trump's tariffs during her SNL performance
Lizzo's Bluesky rant comes weeks after the Still Bad singer took a hit at Trump's tariffs in her recent SNL performance.
While appearing as the musical guest on SNL on April 12, the 36-year-old opened her SNL performance with a medley of Love in Real Life and Still Bad. In her second performance, Lizzo was dressed in a black crop top that read "TARIFFIED," paired with shorts and a sparkly jacket.
Lizzo performed Truth Hurts while wearing the top and later changed into a similar one that read "black women were right" during the show's closing. Her last performance was on Don't Make Me Love You.
This isn't Lizzo's first SNL gig; the singer has previously appeared on the late-night comedy sketch series twice - once in December 2019 and then in December 2022. In an April 2022 episode, the 36-year-old was both the host and the musical guest on the show.
Her latest SNL appearance comes a week after the Crybaby singer posted selfies of herself in a pink lingerie set on Instagram, captioning her post: "Smoothing lace is back."
The 36-year-old's plunging bralette is priced at $64.95 for non-YITTY members on its official website, while the matching briefs cost $29.95 a pair. The selfie also highlighted the singer's significant weight loss, which many netizens pointed out in the comments section.
Lizzo shared the first glimpse of progress on her weight loss in January 2025, with an Instagram post captioned:
"Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal. I haven't seen this number since 2014! Let this be a reminder that you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!"
