This memorable match was the main event of the 24th Royal Rumble event which took place on January 30, 2011 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Alberto Del Rio outlasted 39 other superstars to emerge as the surprise winner of this Royal Rumble match. He went on to face Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 27. Santino Marella’s final outburst almost gave an impression that we may have an underdog winner but soon Alberto Del Rio restored order by eliminating him to become the first winner of a 40-man Royal Rumble match.
