10 Superstars who refused to return to the WWE

From WWE to UFC

World Wrestling Entertainment is akin to the nucleus of the professional wrestling business, with every pro-wrestling hopeful dreaming of making it big there. Ever since its inception, the WWE has put every other ‘pro-rassling’ business out of commission to establish it’s dominance as the numero-uno promotion. However, like any big organisation, the WWE has had its share of major fallouts with noteworthy employees, often leading to situations that are ‘Mexican standoff reminiscent’. Here are ten stars who vowed to never return to the WWE:

#10 CM Punk

An iconoclast who suffered the wrath of the higher echelon, CM Punk swore never to go back to the dreaded squared circle. Despite being one of the WWE's most talented Superstars, Punk was never quite given the main-event-push at the behest of the higher-ups.

He also announced that the WWE doctors were not paying attention to his maladies and he was forced to wrestle while suffering from a MRSA infection. Punk was then unceremoniously ousted from the organisation on his wedding day! He has since sworn never to return.

#9 Mr. Kennedy

Kennedy could have been the greatest main-eventer

A stellar performer and a personal favourite, things never seemed to go right for Mr. Kennedy. He possessed charisma, had amazing in-ring ability and his promos were one of a kind. He was well on his way to establishing himself as a main-eventer, despite not being one of Vince McMahon’s preferred specimens, but a perilous brush with the brass brought about his downfall.

Kennedy claims that Randy Orton and John Cena weren’t particularly pleased with him and claimed he was ‘reckless’ inside the ring. Mr. Kennedy was forced to pack his bags and forge a career in the TNA, but things went awry for him there as well! He failed a drug test which resulted in his ouster from the organization!Mr. Kennedy was forced to pack his bags and forge a career in the TNA, but things went awry for him there as well! #8 Gail Kim

Kim is now a TNA Hall of Famer

Gail Kim was a superstar who found instant success with the World Wrestling Entertainment when she claimed the Women’s Championship in her debut match. She was then relegated to a rather uneasy secondary tier for the following two years. This prompted Kim to look for opportunities in the TNA promotion.

The WWE would re-hire her in 2008, but it would also rub Kim the wrong way, forcing her to walk-out during a live episode of Raw. The night she called it quits, Kim was slated to be eliminated from a battle royal match in under a minute, which she found rather demeaning. Gail is now a TNA Hall of Fame inductee. One business’ loss is another’s gain!

#7 Chyna

Rest in peace

Chyna had a rather tempestuous relationship with the organization, something that would catalyse her downfall, despite holding the distinction of being an elite performer and a physical specimen that won her the accolade of ‘ninth wonder of the world’! Chyna was dating Hunter Hearst Helmsley, a.k.a ‘The Game,' until Stephanie McMahon came along.

Triple H would toss Chyna away like ‘yesterday’s jam,' plummeting her into an abyss from which she never quite recovered until her untimely death last year.

#6 Jeff Jarrett

Business in doldrums?

Jeff Jarrett’s life might be on the ebb currently, but at one point in time, he garnered a lot of respect from the World Wrestling Entertainment for being a star performer with a distinct persona. After his contract with the WWE had expired, he moved to the WCW and ultimately became the co-founder of TNA (the closest rival to the WWE).

He would later go on to establish Global Force Wrestling and eventually returned to TNA after the promotion's takeover by Anthem Sports & Entertainment. Jarrett has dismissed any plans of returning to the WWE.

#5 Dawn Marie

Dawn moved to other promotions

WWE fans will remember Dawn Marie for her infamous storyline with Torie Wilson's father, Al. The storyline saw Al Wilson suffer a heart attack and die after rigorous intercourse with Marie. This angle would define Dawn's career with WWE, and she would later wrestle for other promotions. She even tagged with John Cena at one point.

She doesn’t hold any grudge against the promotion, but she has rubbished any possibility of re-joining the WWE.

#4 Muhammad Hassan

When storyline turned to reality

Muhammad Hassan did a job so well that it was ultimately held against him! One of the most interesting heels to ever grace the business, Hassan’s career came to a rather abrupt halt when a storyline involving him coincided with the London bombings. Three days before the attacks, the WWE taped a segment which showed his masked cronies beating up The Undertaker.

The segment was aired on the day of the tragedy, prompting a vicious hullabaloo in the guise of a media backlash, forcing the UPN television network to ‘kill’ Muhammad Hassan’s character from the WWE. Hassan was fired from the company, and he solemnly swore never to make his ingress into the squared-circle.

#3 Paul London

Paul hating on Paul

The ‘Triple H hate brigade’ found another taker in Paul London when he and his partner Brian Kendrick (aka Spanky) were involved in an altercation with him for no apparent reason in 2008.

Triple H’s ascension to ‘the throne’ meant that Paul London had to look for opportunities elsewhere. London was released from the company later that year and is not inclined to work for an organization where The Game calls the shots.

#2 Mistico aka Sin Cara

The real Sin Cara

A highly influential proponent of the Lucha Libre oeuvre, Mistico wrestled under the name of Sin Cara (meaning, The Faceless) during his time with the World Wrestling Entertainment, only to be replaced by the new Sin Cara.

The situation led to a lawsuit as Mistico claimed that the ownership of the character still belonged to him. In March of 2014, Mistico was released from the World Wrestling Entertainment, and I’m quite sure he wouldn’t want to go back, following his success in the CMLL.

#1 Colt Cabana

“Hey there, Colt Cabana”

Much to the amazement of the WWE Universe, Colt Cabana wrestled for the business, under different monikers. However, his alliance with the disgraced superstar CM Punk would ultimately lead to his downward spiral.

In an interview with Punk on his ‘Art of Wrestling’ Podcast, both men bad-mouthed the WWE, which led to both of them being sued by the company. Quite like his pal, Cabana is in no mood to rekindle ties with the WWE.
