3 botches and mistakes you missed this week on SmackDown Live (August 13th, 2019)

It was another rough week for the blue brand

SmackDown Live this week was the final stop on WWE's lengthy weekend in Toronto, Canada as part of SummerSlam weekend and it was quite obvious that there were some tired legs out there after a few nights at The Scotiabank Arena.

Much like this week on Monday Night Raw, there were a number of errors that could have been a combination of the WWE stars being overworked or even just exhaustion setting in. SmackDown Live this week was dominated by the continuation of the Kevin Owens/Shane McMahon storyline as well as the hunt for whoever it was that tried to attack Roman Reigns, twice.

Interestingly, there have been no further attacks this week, but Buddy Murphy has been the victim of two attacks of his own in recent weeks since Reigns and Rowan believe that he knows more than he's letting on. SmackDown was definitely a strange episode this week, but did you pick up on these errors?

#3 Daniel Bryan tripped over his lines

Were Bryan and Rowan behind Roman Reigns' attack?
Were Bryan and Rowan behind Roman Reigns' attack?

Daniel Bryan has been dragged into the Roman Reigns storyline in recent weeks since Buddy Murphy revealed that he saw Rowan at the scene of the crime a few weeks ago, but did point out that he was on his own.

Bryan hasn't taken too well to Rowan's reputation being dragged through the mud and this week he declared that he would prove to the WWE Universe that he was innocent and then he and Rowan decided to attack Buddy Murphy until he admitted that he was lying, which didn't really prove anything.

Bryan has become almost obsessed with proving that he and Rowan were not the ones in the frame for the attack which was seen this week on SmackDown but the repetition of many of his lines became an issue for him in the men's locker room when he tripped over his lines whilst interrogating Murphy.

#2 Charlotte vs Ember Moon

Ember Moon and Charlotte seemingly had a score to settle this week on SmackDown Live after Moon was able to defeat Charlotte a few weeks ago on SmackDown Live in the build-up to her Women's Championship match against Bayley at SummerSlam this past weekend.

It was a strange match to choose since Moon was on the losing end of her match on Sunday night whilst Charlotte was able to declare that she was The Queen of all Eras with a victory over seven-time Women's Champion Trish Stratus.

Many of the WWE Universe picked up on the fact that there were a number of botches and awkward moments throughout the only women's match this week as part of the show before Charlotte was able to put Moon out of her misery when she forced her to tap to the Figure Eight.

It's unknown if this will be the beginning of a feud for the two women, but it's a shock that there was no interference or anything moving this rivalry forward since Clash of Champions is just over a month away and there are a number of women who will want to be involved in the show.

#1 How is this a pin?

Kevin Owens wasn't technically pinned this week on SmackDown Live
Kevin Owens wasn't technically pinned this week on SmackDown Live

It's hard to judge this one, but surely even as a crooked official, the Superstar has to have their shoulders on the mat in order for the three count to be recorded? This week on SmackDown Live, Kevin Owens took on Samoa Joe and could have easily picked up the victory following a Pop-Up Powerbomb if it wasn't for special guest enforcer Elias.

The 24/7 Champion then entered the ring and distracted Owens enough for Joe to attempt a roll-up but Owens didn't actually roll onto his shoulders so even though this was a fast count and Elias then ran away before Owens could further attack him, it shouldn't have counted.

Elias has already been part of one major botch this week when the end of his match on Raw was seen as a huge error because his shoulder was up during the three count, could Vince McMahon have spotted that this was another error from Elias on SmackDown Live?

This will obviously go on to become an on-going storyline, but if Elias is going to be an official then he needs to ensure that he's at least attempting to uphold some of the rules.
