3 of the biggest stars that were left off WWE Stomping Grounds

WWE Stomping Grounds heads your way in a couple of days on Sunday inside the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington. It is the inaugural edition of the pay per-view and will stream live on the WWE Network and on pay per-view too.

A number of high-profile matches featuring WWE's brightest stars have been set for the show. Seth Rollins will look to extend his Universal Championship reign as he squares off against Baron Corbin in a match where Corbin gets to choose a special guest referee. Kofi Kingston looks to continue his fairy-tale like WWE Championship reign as he battles within the confines of a steel cage against Dolph Ziggler.

Becky Lynch will defend her Raw Women's title against the upstart Lacey Evans. Elsewhere on the card, Roman Reigns will fight Drew Mcintyre.

The card is stacked with a myriad of talented stars, but a few will be forced to sit out of the event as they don't have a scheduled match up to now. These stars might be a part of ongoing story-lines, but it's unlikely that they'll be in line for a match at WWE Stomping Grounds.

Having said that, let's take a quick look at three of the biggest stars who don't have a match scheduled and have been left off the card for WWE Stomping Grounds.

#3 Finn Balor

Finn Balor was drafted to SmackDown Live in April as a part of the Superstar Shake-up. Balor instantly became one of the blue brand's top stars and immediately engaged in a feud with Andrade. Balor and Andrade have been going back and forth for weeks, but Balor has kept on to his coveted Intercontinental title.

The Intercontinental Champion defended his title against Andrade two weeks ago at Super Show-Down, but has seldom been seen on television since then. The same can be said about Balor's opponent, Andrade. I have a feeling that their feud is still far from over and they will certainly battle in future.

Balor's reign has been great thus far; he has brought prestige to the Intercontinental title and has every right to be on the card. WWE couldn't come up with something worthwhile for Balor to do, which is why he doesn't have a match scheduled.

#2 Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman is one of WWE's best big men we have ever seen. He is insanely agile for a man of his size. He was one of WWE's most wildly popular stars in the last couple of years, but things haven't been bright for the Monster Among Men in recent months.

It's a shame to see how far down Strowman has fallen in WWE's pecking order. He has been competing in meaningless matches ever since WrestleMania. He has had no real feud except for worthless and nothing feuds with Bobby Lashley and Sami Zayn.

Strowman's popularity has fallen rapidly and his stock will eventually decline. It aches my heart to see a star like Strowman tread water on a show that he should be ruling as the top dog.

Strowman has nothing much going on for him on television, which is why he has no match scheduled for WWE Stomping Grounds. He will most likely not appear at the show at all, not even in a backstage segment.

#1 AJ Styles

AJ Styles is currently out with injury, but his appearance on Raw this week heralded his return. Hopefully, 'The Phenomenal One' is well rested and all ready to return to in-ring action. His absence has hurt Raw tremendously. Probably a part of the reason why Raw's ratings have been so low lately as Styles has such a strong fan following.

As Styles was out with injury, WWE had to write him off television. They did this a couple of weeks ago on Raw when Baron Corbin attacked Styles backstage and took his spot in a Fatal Four-Way match to determine the challenger for the Universal title. Styles hasn't been in in-ring action since Money in the Bank and fans have been eager to see him wrestle again.

Given that Styles returned on Raw this week, Styles could have an impromptu match at WWE Stomping Grounds. A backstage segment or an interview is also a very strong possibility.
