5 Botches, slip ups, and outrageous moments from WWE Raw April 3rd, 2017

Kurt Angle made a triumphant return to WWE television

While this is the point where exhaustion should be kicking in, it can’t be because Raw after WrestleMania has come. This was a night that overall lived up to its rowdy hype. The Orlando crowd had every reason to be wild because they got to see Kurt Angle assume the role of the new General Manager, the call ups of The Revival to further ignite the Monday tag division, and the return of the first Universal Champion, Finn Balor. Finn took a kayfabe injured Chris Jericho’s spot in the main event tag team match.

With all of this excitement came many moments that could also be filed under the “outrageous” category. Some of this includes when the crowd took over the show on several occasions (once with a beach ball), when Sheamus showed some sketchy execution on a move that even a commentator remarked on its ugliness, and when Bill Goldberg watched as one of his family members slipped right onto their rear end while jumping over the barrier around the ring. All of these moments have been preserved via gif for you to watch over and over again.

So without any more delay, here are the 5 botchiest and most outrageous moments from the Raw after WrestleMania 33.

#5 He’s not that bad

The Roman Reigns hate has reached new heights of outrageousness on Raw. The Big Dog opened up Raw with an 8+ minute promo that consisted of only 5 words: “This is my yard now.”

The reason this incredibly short address to the Raw crowd took so long was because of the vicious hazing they were giving him. Vulgarities were audible to the at-home audience as they screamed “Fudge you Roman” and “Shut the fudge up,” chants that I’m obviously editing for content.

There was even this ridiculous “Roman is worse that polio” sign, which is equally as hilarious as it is untrue. This was almost as outlandish as the infamous “Roman is a Holocaust denier” sign from WrestleMania just one day prior.

#4 Nobody likes the owl

Orlando was firmly behind the Hardyz, which means they’re most likely against anything Anthem right now. While Anderson & Gallows had the advantage over Broken Matt during the middle of this contest, the raucous attendees busted out this vulgar pro-Hardy chant.

Byron Saxton humorously commented that the Hardyz were excited about coming back home during this moment. It’s funny if he was just playing off the reactions of the people. Any hope of this Raw after WrestleMania staying in the general realm of PG programming was not a challenge these fans were willing to take on.

#3 Beach Ball Mania

Neville is one day removed from his successful Cruiserweight Title defence against Austin Aries on the WrestleMania 33 Pre-Show and found himself in a singles match against a motivated Mustafa Ali. The crowd was at peak rowdiness during this one which didn’t help that their attention was pretty far removed from the reverse frankensteiner and springing Spanish Fly. Orlando was going ballistic, and it was all due to a beach ball.

If you look to the left in the above highlight, you can see the culprit bouncing around the crowd. Good for Orlando for having fun but they chose the wrong match to bust out a beach ball. They missed a good one.

#2 Ugly spinning heel kick

Sheamus & Cesaro, as well as Enzo & Cass, thought it was unfair that the Hardyz were entered into the Tag Championship Ladder Match at WrestleMania last minute so they wanted another shot at the titles. This Number One Contender’s Match was set up by Kurt Angle in an effort to give these guys a fair shot at the belts.

The European duo ended up winning the title shot over the Jersey Boys but had a slight misstep in the process when Sheamus went for this spinning heel kick. Commentator Corey Graves even guffawed at the ugly execution of the move. But to be fair, it did the job.

#1 Watch your step

“Look, he even takes bumps already. And hell, that’s one more than I’ve taken in my entire career until last night.”

Bill Goldberg’s son suffered his first ever WWE botch in Orlando, a sign that he’s already on his path to becoming a real wrestler. Daddy Bill’s aformentioned quotation to help his kid not feel embarrassed, which turned out to be a genuinely funny line from the former Universal Champion.

This unscripted moment that aired on the WWE Network after the official broadcast ended showed, even more, heart and humour from Goldberg in a run that has done wonders in endearing him to the wrestling community like never before. Bill Goldberg and his momentarily clumsy son received a tonne of love from one of the most brutal crowds of the year – this is a chapter in wrestling that nobody saw coming.
