5 female superstars who've never won a title in WWE

We have no doubt that the fortunes of one superstar will change soon!
We have no doubt that the fortunes of one superstar will change soon!

The female division has traditionally been a sideshow in sports entertainment. While the men were booked in the more serious storylines, the women were invariably booked in the death-spot between two big matches, almost as a cool down between the more important segments.

This was partly because the women had only one championship to compete for, in any WWE brand. Add the fact that the rosters were paper thin, until very recently, and it invariably turned out that most women in the roster would end up with a championship run, as the title had to flip-flop between limited women to keep the storylines going.

Today, the roster is far more stacked, with multiple women on either brand, and the women are far more talented inside the squared circle than ever before. We're experiencing a revolution in women's wrestling, and the women are elevating the division to newer heights, together.

Even though the depth of the women's roster on both brands is not as strong as the men's division, it means that the there are certain talents who're biding their time before they get a championship run. Let's look at some of the women on the current roster, and examine if they have it in them to win a WWE Women's Championship someday.

#5 Carmella

It's only a matter of time until Carmella wins big
It's only a matter of time until Carmella wins the big prize on SmackDown Live

Of all the names we've mentioned thus far, Carmella seems like the most likely contender to become a future women's champion. This is not only because she holds the Money in The Bank contract that she can cash in anytime, and win the big prize. This is because the company seems invested in her.

Carmella has a great look, and while she's not Sasha Banks in the ring, she can hold her own, more often than not. She is also competent on the microphone, as she has proved in her segments with James Ellsworth, showing exceptional flair on the night after Money in the Bank.

Unless WWE books her in a Baron Corbin situation (which is unlikely), Carmella is a future SmackDown Women's Champion for sure. From the looks of it, she'll probably have multiple title runs, considering she's got most gifts that WWE seeks in champions.

#4 Tamina

Unfortunately, we don't see a championship in her future either
Unfortunately, we don't see a championship in her future either

Tamina has been a part of WWE since 2010, but unfortunately for her, she has not held gold at any point in time. There's a distinct lack of charisma in her, coupled with sub-par in-ring skills that makes her perfect for the role of a sidekick, but never the central attraction.

Last we saw of her, Lana was grooming her to become SmackDown Live Women's Champion. The storyline had to be abandoned midway because it really did not seem to be headed anywhere, really. As much as we like Tamina, she does not have the tools to be the SmackDown Live Women's Champion, right now.

One interesting way for her to hold gold would be to send her back to NXT, where other girls could learn from her experience. As for the main roster, there's very little hope for Tamina Snuka.

#3 Emma

Emma's case is simply inexplicable
Emma's case is simply inexplicable

Emma is another woman who has been around since forever. Despite her overwhelming online support (which is also her current gimmick on RAW), she has never had a taste of gold. This is despite the fact that she has a great look and is pretty good, inside the squared circle.

Many had assumed that her erstwhile 'Emmalina' character would be the persona that got her massively over with the WWE universe, and would cement her as the top woman in the roster. Sadly, if anything, that gimmick (or lack of) did not harm than good, making her little more than an absolute joke.

Emma has won multiple championships outside WWE. Is it only a matter of time until she wins her first WWE Women's title?

As it stands right now, we don't think so. Emma needs a new gimmick and needs to stop complaining about her fortunes on social media, thereby earning the ire of WWE management.

#2 Nikki Cross

In any other era, she would have been NXT Women's Champion
In any other era, she would have been NXT Women's Champion

Unfortunately for Nikki Cross, she came to NXT at a time when Asuka was the reigning women's champion, on her way to her 523-day undefeated streak. Despite the fact that she put on some great matches and that her character was perhaps more deranged than any other female in WWE history, she never got a championship run.

Cross has won gold outside WWE, but never in the company. Now that Asuka is moving to RAW, there's a high possibility that Cross could hold the title next. We do not know how the following weeks will pan out, but Cross has turned face and allied herself with Ruby Riot in a strange partnership.

Cross seems like a character who will have a great run in the main roster. Her gimmick demands that she be booked in storylines, and not random matches. Much like Alexa Bliss, there is a great possibility that even if she does not get an NXT Women's Championship run, she'll be a big deal when she goes to RAW or SmackDown Live.

What do you think, reader? Will Cross get her due at NXT Takeover: Houston? Or will she get her first taste of gold on the main roster only?

#1 Nia Jax

Expect Nia Jax to be Women's Champion in under a year
Expect Nia Jax to be the Women's Champion in under a year

Nia Jax came up at the same time as Carmella and has been booked dominantly since she was called up. Perhaps even more so than Carmella. We're certain that it's only a matter of time before she has her first taste of gold on the main roster. There's just never been any woman like her.

Yes, she's not like most girls, as her theme indicates. She still has to go a long way before she can be considered an exemplary worker (much like her peer Braun Strowman is). However, she looks like a far more dominant powerhouse than Tamina Snuka. She's also the only woman who has her weight called out, during matches.

Nia Jax is one of the central characters in the RAW Women's Division and we're certain that she's destined for great things in WWE. Watch her rag doll Emma in the video we've linked below.
