Several current WWE stars could return for a WrestleMania run

There are many current WWE stars on the roster who are classified as inactive due to differing reasons. While there are several high-profile stars like Becky Lynch who is absent on maternity leave, or Ronda Rousey who is currently having some personal time, there are several stars who could be recalled in the build-up to WrestleMania.

While there are some stars including Ivar from The Viking Raiders and Paige who are legitimately injured, others are chomping at the bit, just waiting for the chance to return.

WWE has a huge roster at its disposal at present, and since WrestleMania is set to be over two nights once again this year, there are several well-known faces who could reappear in the near future.

The following article looks at just 5 currently inactive WWE stars who could be recalled in time for a WrestleMania run.

#5. Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Murphy

Murphy hasn't been seen on WWE TV in 2021. It's unclear what has happened to the former Cruiserweight Champion since he was embroiled in a storyline with Rey Mysterio and Aalyah before he mysteriously disappeared.

Mysterio and Dominik recently revealed that they had COVID-19 symptoms back in December, which was why the storyline with King Corbin had several gaps in it. The two men have since returned to WWE TV and continued their storyline with Corbin, but Murphy and Aalyah's relationship hasn't played its part in the story.

The recent release of Steve Culter could be a hint that Wesley Blake's story with Corbin is also over, which means that Murphy won't be needed in the feud between the three men moving forward.

Murphy was one of the WWE's standout stars throughout his time alongside Seth Rollins as his disciple. Rollins is set to make his WWE return next week on SmackDown, and Murphy could pick up where he left off with his former friend.

The two could put on a fantastic match at WrestleMania or even at Elimination Chamber or Fastlane if WWE decide that Murphy is the best option for a feud for the returning Messiah.

#4. Current WWE Commentator Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe has been seen as a commentator on WWE TV over the past few months due to injuries he suffered at the beginning of 2020.

While Samoa Joe himself has admitted that he is happy with working as a commentator and that he is learning on the job, the plan has always been to allow Joe to return to the ring eventually.

It's unclear what Joe's current health update is, but it's likely that at some point, the former NXT Champion will be looking to step back into the ring so that he can pick up where he left off.

Joe has so many people he can target from his position on commentary. There are so many stars he could cross paths with in the coming weeks to set up a WrestleMania feud.

Samoa Joe was once destined for great things in WWE. Many believed that he would even be part of the 2021 Royal Rumble to mark his return to the ring, but this didn't happen. It's worth noting that there are still two months until WrestleMania, so anything is possible.

#3. Former WWE Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso

Jey Uso has become an integral part of WWE SmackDown in recent months after being put into a program with Roman Reigns. Uso has been pushed hard over the past few months in the absence of his brother Jimmy, but now it appears that Jimmy could be ready to make his return.

Jey Uso wasn't part of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view last weekend but returned to WWE TV on this week's episode of SmackDown. Interestingly, his brother Jimmy Uso was still nowhere in sight.

When Jimmy finally does make his return to WWE TV, it's unclear if he will be on the same page as his brother. The last time he was seen was back at Hell in a Cell, where he was choked out by 'The Tribal Chief' Roman Reigns.

The Universal Champion is seemingly still busy fixing his issues with Kevin Owens, but Jey Uso could have a storyline of his own against his brother heading into WrestleMania if Jimmy Uso returns in the near future.

#4. WWE star Aleister Black

Aleister Black hasn't been seen since the annual WWE Draft back in October. Currently, there is no update on when Black will make his return to WWE TV.

There was a time when great things were expected of Black when he had the backing of Paul Heyman, who was the Executive Direction of RAW at the time.

Now a part of SmackDown, WWE has many options on the Blue brand for Black especially with Elimination Chamber coming up.

Black has been on the sidelines for several months now and it's clear that the former NXT star isn't injured, so there's nothing stopping WWE from recalling The Dutch Destroyer ahead of WrestleMania.

Fightful Select reported that WWE wants to ease the tension after the release of Black wife, Zelina Vega and that's the reason why he hasn't been on TV lately.

"Sources on SmackDown have indicated to us that they've not seen [Black] at all backstage since after the Zelina release. We haven't heard as to whether or not there are any specific issues between Black and WWE, but one person we talked to in the company seems to think that they're letting any ill will between the two subside."

If he does return on the Road to WrestleMania, Aleister Black could step back into his feud with Kevin Owens at any time and finally end the on-going story with Roman Reigns for good this time.

#5. Former WWE United States Champion Andrade

Andrade is another WWE Superstar who is currently inactive. The former United States Champion recently opted to undergo an elective surgical procedure.

Andrade hasn't been seen on WWE TV for several months, but there were rumors that he could return with his real-life fiance Charlotte. It looks like those plans have been dropped as The Queen returned in December all alone at TLC to partner with RAW Women's Champion Asuka. However, WWE could insert him into the angle involving Charlotte, Ric Flair, and Lacey Evans, making it a full-blown family turmoil.

Andrade was a star that WWE expected great things of when he was in his early years with the company as a part of NXT. Unfortunately, after breaking up with his on-screen manager Zelina Vega in late 2020, Andrade has been unable to make any kind of impact and has now been missing for several months.

With Angel Garza also currently missing from WWE TV, could the two men re-emerge as a tag team in the future?
