With WWE TLC just around the corner, images of broken tables and death-defying superstars pop into the mind. Tables are a simple yet effective means of storytelling in a wrestling match and have been an integral part of many matches and feuds.

From Terry Funk piledriving the 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair through a table at WrestleWar in 1989 to the time freezing moments of the Hell in a Cell match between the Undertaker and Mankind, a good table spot never gets old in the world of pro wrestling and can turn the tides of a match in a single instant.

Plain tables, gimmicked tables, tables with crazy designs, the poor Spanish announcers' table, tables with barbed wire and tables set on fire, what's not been done yet!

And to remember all those golden table crashing moments, here are 5 memorable table spots (not in any order) in WWE!

5- Sabu DDTs Rey Mysterio through a table - One Night Stand 2006

Sabu's wrestling career is filled with extreme moments. Two of the most aerial superstars in wrestling history clashed at ECW One Night Stand in 2006.

The first event of rebranded ECW bore witness to a hardcore match between the biggest little man and the death-defying maniac, which included many memorable spots like a West Coast Pop Up from Mysterio on Sabu through a table.

But undoubtedly the most jaw-dropping sequence from the match was this DDT. Jumping off a chair onto the top rope, Sabu drove Mysterio head first through the table in a moment that had the audience frozen and genuinely concerned about Mysterio's health.

This was such a profound moment that the match ended in a no result, an outcome almost unheard of in the extreme third brand.

4 John Cena FU's Edge off a ladder and through tables - Unforgiven 2006

The TLC match for the WWE Championship was undoubtedly one of the defining moments of John Cena's early career. The reigning champ defended his title against the Rated R Superstar in an extreme bout with the perfect culmination.

Two tables stacked over one another, a 16-foot ladder, the referees holding the ladder in place for a safer execution, the crowd on their feet, and then Cena hit the FU.

Rumour has it that Cena was supposed to lose the title at the event but a last minute change resulted in a retention for the reigning champ. John Cena looked visibly depressed as he retrieved the title over broken tables and a broken body.

This was one of the many sparks that set off the fire of the hate towards Cena regarding his big push over many deserving superstars on the roster.

3. The RKO/Batista Bomb combo - Wrestlemania 30

The rise of the fan favourite Daniel Bryan has to be one of the best underdog storylines in pro wrestling history!

The frustration that the fans had, seeing Bryan reach the peak only to fall again and again by the tactics of the authority, culminated into their aggressive support for the Yes Man.

The crowds were furious when Bryan was eliminated from the Royal Rumble, which was eventually won by the returning Batista, who challenged Orton at the Grandest Stage of Them All. But the backlash was so intense that the WWE had to push Daniel into the title picture.

This spot symbolises all that in a single moment, the authorities conspiring and working together against the underdog, who, against all odds, rises and achieves the eventual success.

The success, here, was a shiny WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt!

2. Edge pushes Undertaker off a ladder - One Night Stand 2008

At One Night Stand 2008, The Undertaker squared off against Edge in a TLC Match with the vacant World Heavyweight Title on the line.

The members of La Familia attacked the Phenom near the end of the match and the Ultimate Opportunist found his chance! The Phenom fought off the family, but lost some precious time.

The Undertaker, perched atop a ladder could do nothing, but fall to this doom when Edge got a hold of the ladder. The spot plays out almost poetically, and the tension makes the hang time seem incredibly longer than it is. The fear stricken face of the dead man as he approaches the four tables stacked upon each other is horrifying.

As a knocked out Taker looked on, the seven time world champion and future Hall of Famer quickly climbed the ladder to claim the championship.

1. Edge spears Mick Foley through a flaming table - WrestleMania 22

The Rated R Superstar seems to be a moment maker!

One of the immortal moments of WWE came at WrestleMania 22 and despite the involvement of thumbtacks, baseball bats and barbed wire, all it took was a table on fire! Lita set the table on fire as a confused Mick Foley looked hazily on only to realise, a moment too late. that he was about to be speared through it.

This was yet another instance of Foley sacrificing his body for the sake of entertainment and for his passion towards pro wrestling. Among the long list of daredevil spots that the man has undertaken, which include the legendary throw off the Hell in a Cell cage at King of the Ring 1998, this table spot would be counted among them and will remain as his brightest Wrestlemania moment.

So that's it for the list, what other moments are memorable to you?
