It was another tepid episode of Smackdown with the only major story really catching fire being between Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens.

Here are the five biggest stories from Smackdown Live this week and how they impact the WWE Universe.

Leave your comments below I would love to hear your thoughts on this week's show.

#1 Jinder Mahal and Shinsuke Nakamura are struggling to carry the WWE title feud

One of the problems that the WWE is facing with Smackdown at the moment is that the fan base is just not taking to its champions. Unfortunately, both the Smackdown TV ratings and attendances to shows have dramatically dropped since Jinder won the championship.

Having two wrestlers competing against each other, incapable of cutting effective promos is hurting their ability to really build interest in the story, Whilst Nakamura has natural charisma and fan favouritism the feud has been very dull.

We can only hope that the WWE decide to bury the Jinder era and allow "The Artist" to reign supreme at Hell in the Cell.

#2 Carmella needs to cash in at Hell in a Cell

The feud between Natalya and Charlotte Flair is another case of the WWE going back to the same well on too many occasions. For anyone who has been a fan of NXT over the last few years, this matchup is something that the WWE Universe have already been treated too on multiple occasions.

In fact, their NXT encounter was considered an instant classic, propelling Charlotte forward as a future superstar. Now the Flair and Hart family feud just feels overdone and tired. The only new angle in the female division will be to see how Carmella can do as a heel champion with James Ellsworth in tow. This would at least give us some fresh title feuds.

The only other interesting storyline that may emerge coming out of Hell in a Cell would be how the WWE reintegrates a returning Paige.

#3 Booby Roode is the best thing on Smackdown!

Glorious!
Glorious!

Bobby Roode is what you would call the total package.

He has the entrance (maybe the best in pro wrestling at the moment); he has the look and experience to hang with the best in the business, and is extremely effective on the microphone.

The sooner they manage to get Bobby chasing a serious title, the sooner Smackdown will become must-see TV.

Hopefully, his match with Ziggler at Hell in the Cell lives up to expectations and Roode is booked strong and uses this as a catapult onto the main event scene for WWE. Along with AJ Styles, I believe that Roode was the best talent outside of the WWE, and I can't wait to see what he is capable of now that he has hit the main roster.

#4 The Usos vs The New Day at Hell in a Cell will be a classic

The Uso's vs The New Day

I can't see this going down any other way but being the match of the night at Hell in the Cell. Both of these teams gel, know each other in the ring, have chemistry, and a rivalry that we will look back on in the years to come as one of the classics.

The Usos have impressed me in this feud and their promo on this week's Smackdown was very polished and showed real emotion and intensity from the brothers. With the backdrop of the cell, I am sure this will be must-see TV this weekend.

#5 Shane vs Owens is going to have some high-intensity spots worth tuning in to see!

Given what we saw on Smackdown this week, get ready for an insane ride come Sunday night at Hell in the Cell. There is going to be some very high-intensity spots that will make this match a must watch.

Shane McMahon is known for bringing it on his rare appearances in the ring and I expect that this will be no different.

The booking of this match will be intriguing as a loss would really hurt Owens, however, a win really doesn't do anything for Shane McMahon -- he is already the Commissioner of Smackdown Live and the son of the chairman of the board.

Either way, this match is one I am really looking forward too.
