5 ways WWE could shock fans at the Royal Rumble

What can WWE do to shock fans at The Royal Rumble?
What can WWE do to shock fans at The Royal Rumble?

Surprises - not only are they an important part of pro wrestling, they are something that can leave the fans always coming back for more if done the right way. Beyond that, they are moments where fans, for one reason or another, are able to suspend their disbelief and really sink their teeth into what's going on.

Nonsensical hyperbole aside, surprises are special moments organisations are able to fool their audience with, doing something completely unexpected. With that said, and one of WWE's biggest pay per views of the year right around the corner, one has to wonder what the company could do to leave their fans in absolute disbelief at The Royal Rumble.

As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and be sure to tell us what WWE could do to leave you in absolute shock at this year's Royal Rumble pay per view. Also tell us who you are rooting for to win the men and women's Royal Rumble match this year, and why!

#5 Have John Cena eliminate The Undertaker from The Royal Rumble

John Cena versus The Undertaker part two. Who wins?
John Cena versus The Undertaker part two. Who wins?

Think about it!

John Cena enters relatively early on in the Royal Rumble match and starts eliminating everyone in sight. This goes on for awhile until The Undertaker's entrance music plays and he makes his way down the ramp as Cena watches on. The two then have a full on stare down in the ring before The Cenation leader tosses Taker over the top rope.

If nothing else, that would probably leave The WWE Universe absolutely shocked and angry at the 16 time world champion. It would also put a huge target on Cena's back throughout the rest of the match, and make whoever is finally able to eliminate him an absolute hero in the process.

In the end, its a great way to put a young star over, set up Undertaker versus John Cena a second time, and give The WWE Universe one of the biggest shocks of the century. In fact, if WWE times it all right and really gets fans angry at Cena during the match, the moment could have the same impact as Undertaker losing at WrestleMania 30.

#4 Having Mandy Rose win the women's Royal Rumble

What would your reaction be if Mandy Rose won the women's Royal Rumble
What would your reaction be if Mandy Rose won the women's Royal Rumble

While this is probably one of the most out of nowhere things on this list, it does make sense given how high Vince McMahon seems to be on Mandy Rose right now. In fact, between him giving her a new gimmick since moving to SmackDown Live and her in a homewrecker angle with Naomi, its obvious that McMahon has plans for the young star.

Whether those plans actually result in her going on to win the women's Royal Rumble or not remains to be seen, but McMahon has made crazier decisions in the past! Furthermore, SmackDown Live really needs to establish a new star in the women's division right now, which is even more of a reason why WWE should have Rose win the match.

In the end, it would be a huge surprise for the entire WWE Universe, and might even be what ricochets Mandy Rose into superstardom if all goes well. Of course WWE must craft the right storyline and give her the right opponent at WrestleMania 35 to make it all work, but maybe they can actually pull it off!

#3 Ronda Rousey losing the women's title

Believe it or not, Ronda Rousey could lose the Raw women's title at the Royal Rumble!
Believe it or not, Ronda Rousey could lose the Raw women's title at the Royal Rumble!

Although there have been rumours of Ronda Rousey dropping the Raw women's title and moving to SmackDown Live, fans are still wondering about when and how it happens. Furthermore, they are wondering who is going to be the lucky superstar that gets to dethrone the Baddest Woman on the Planet, which in itself is a huge honour!

In all honesty, if and when she finally parts ways with the Raw women's championship is going to be a sight to behold, and might even go down as one of the most shocking moments in WWE history. If nothing else, this is already a moment the WWE Universe anticipates, and what better place to pull it off than at the Royal Rumble?

In fact, with the ongoing feud between Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey, it would be a great opportunity for Lynch to exact revenge on the woman who cost her the SmackDown Live women's title. It would also be a great way to set up their eventual match at WrestleMania 35, which could end up main eventing the show if all goes well!

Admit it, Ronda Rousey walking out of the Royal Rumble without the Raw women's title would leave fans in shock. Maybe WWE could even have Lynch and Charlotte ambush Rousey before her match with Sasha Banks, and then allow The Boss to pick the bones and win the title.

#2 Putting The Rock in the Royal Rumble

The People's Champ!

If The Rock was a surprise entrant in this year's Royal Rumble, it would immediately bring fans to their feet and make them erupt in excitement! Beyond that, having The Rock at the Royal Rumble would give the company a huge boost in star power, which is what they need right now as they kick off The Road to WrestleMania 35.

Interestingly enough, some rumours claimed that the original plan for the Royal Rumble was for The Rock to win and go on to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 35. Of course that plan is out the window due to Roman Reigns' hiatus, but that doesn't mean WWE can't pit the Great One against someone else at the biggest stage of them all.

This is probably the most realistic possibility on the entire list. Furthermore, it would be a moment in time the WWE Universe would never forget, and it will set the stage for what could be a pretty exciting road to WrestleMania.

Here's hoping!

#1 Finn Balor winning the Royal Rumble

What if Finn Balor actually won the Royal Rumble?!
What if Finn Balor actually won the Royal Rumble?!

The man is one of the most exciting superstars to watch in a WWE ring, and the fans have been behind the underdog since the beginning. Unfortunately for Balor, an accidental injury at SummerSlam two years ago forced him to vacate his newly won Universal title, and he hasn't really been the same since.

Beyond that, WWE has kept him in the upper mid card for quite some time now, but still refuses to put him anywhere near the title picture.

With WWE wanting a fresh start after months of disastrous booking, it absolutely makes sense for Balor to surprise everyone and win the 2019 men's Royal Rumble.

Going a step further, WWE should have Balor be the first entrant in the match, surviving all 29 other men to earn a Universal title shot! While some fans might think this would be predictable and a little unrealistic, they have done the same before with other superstars, and Balor has been held down for so long that fans would erupt if WWE did this.

If nothing else, this would be the best way WWE could apologise to the fans, and it would truly be one of the best moments in Royal Rumble history. It would also finally put Balor back in the Universal title picture, and maybe even set him up for a one on one match-up with Brock Lesnar!
