5 women who could be the fifth entrant on Team SmackDown Live

Is the stage set for a big return?
Is the stage set for a big return?

The fans would have smirked at the thought of Survivor Series potentially being one of the best PPVs of the year a couple of weeks ago. However, after a slew of large-scale changes, the big-four PPV actually does feel like a big deal.

The latest of the lot happened this week on SmackDown Live when Charlotte created history by defeating Natalya to become the new SmackDown Live Women's Champion. The monumental title change has opened up a spot in the Women's team of the blue brand as the Queen will face off against Alexa Bliss this Sunday.

The mystery entrant angle is wrestling 101. It adds another layer to an already impressive line-up and has predictably got the WWE Universe talking about the elusive fifth member.

So, who could it be? A current star? A forgotten former Diva? A retired fan favourite?

This article takes a look at the 5 most likely possibilities:

#5 Natalya

The perfect rebound?
The perfect rebound?

The Queen of Harts makes the cut by virtue of her loss to Charlotte that has rendered her without a match at the PPV. Neither WWE or the former Women's Champion have mentioned about her status for the show, which makes you wonder what could be in store.

An interference in the Champion vs. Champion match to exact revenge against Charlotte would seem like the WWE-way od dealing with the situation, but replacing Charlotte in the Elimination match seems like a logical booking decision.

But logic isn't always entertaining.

#4 Nikki Bella

Will she pull off a John Cena at the PPV?
Will she pull off a John Cena at the PPV?

The longest reigning Divas Champion in history is one of the many names being rumoured to take Charlotte's spot. And we must say it's a pretty believable one.

Bella's Dancing with the Stars conquest came to an abrupt end a couple of weeks back, leaving her with ample time to consider getting back into the ring. We're not sure if the WWE Universe has been longing to see her ever since her engagement angle with John Cena at WrestleMania 33, but her addition would not be the worst that can happen.

She could also have company on the way to the Toyota Centre this Sunday as Cena will be in action too in the men's bout.

#3. Brie Bella

The last time Brie Mode ran wild was back at WrestleMania 32.
The last time Brie Mode ran wild was back at WrestleMania 32

This one's a long-shot as Brie is in her post-pregnancy stage, but her will to wrestle again is still alive and kicking. The former Divas Champion has mentioned in various interviews that she intends to return to the squared circle in 2018 and is training with her sister for the same.

So what if Daniel Bryan comes out this Sunday and introduced his wife as the surprise 5th member? It would sound like a good one-off angle on paper as it all depends on whether fans miss Brie Mode. Considering how likeable the Bella Twin is, I have no qualms about her comeback getting the favoured reaction.

#2 Kaitlyn

Now this would be a shocker!
Now, this would be a shocker!

Did you know that Charlotte Flair and Kaitlyn are both 31 years old? While Flair is a 6-time Women's Champion and just starting to hit her prime, Kaitlyn is retired and content being an entrepreneur. But is she really done with wrestling altogether? Maybe not.

The former WWE Divas Champion has been spotted backstage at various recent WWE shows and has always maintained a great relationship with the company and the talents.

A return to Survivor Series may seem outrageous, but so was Great Khali's return at Battleground. I'm sure the fans would prefer seeing Kaitlyn over Khali any day.

#1. Paige

Just come back already!
Just come back already!

The Anti-Diva has been all over the news in the build-up to Survivor Series. Photos of the controversial Superstar appearing backstage on Raw fueled speculation of a triumphant return as part of either the Raw or SmackDown teams.

The two chaotic go-home shows clouded the absence of Paige, but the rumours just don't seem to wither away. She is the most-heavily rumoured name doing the rounds and the perfect choice if WWE decides to make one.

While it was also revealed in the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE has put her return on hold for after Survivor Series, plans are always subject to change in Mr McMahon's madhouse.

Who do you think will be the surprise entrant? Or more aptly put, who do you want to see take that final spot on team SmackDown Live? Sound off in the comments section.
