So much could potentially happen at AEW Double or Nothing
So much could potentially happen at AEW Double or Nothing

There has been a lot of buzz about the inaugural event of All Elite Wrestling entitled 'AEW Double or Nothing' coming our way very soon. It is slated to take place on May 25th, 2019 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Everyone expects AEW to be the answer to the mundane weekly product served up by Vince McMahon. And for this to happen during the show, I'm guessing that there need to be a few surprises in store for us.

Let me list out a few of them that could take place at the said show. In case you agree with me, let me know in the comments section right below.

I would love to hear what you have to say about my thoughts.

#5 CM Punk returns under a mask once again

Not long ago, we saw CM Punk return to the ring under a mask for an independent show. Of course, there's very little chance that he will actually sign with the promotion. His focus seems to be on MMA right now, irrespective of whether or not he turns out to be good at it.

But I can always see him return under a mask again just to make the fans in the arena very happy. Only this time, he will take off his mask in the middle of the ring, much to the delight of all the fans in the arena. Even the sight of him coming out and delivering a GTS to someone in the ring will be thrilling for fans.

I have strong doubts with regard to whether or not he will actually sign with the company full time. I really do think that he has left the world of wrestling behind him.

#4 AJ Lee officially joins AEW as a part of the roster

I have met, interacted with and interviewed enough pro wrestlers in my life to know that once the wrestling bug bites you, it's impossible to let go. It's much the same as say, performing on stage as a musician or being in front of the camera. AJ Lee is someone who's been passionate about professional wrestling all through her life and I'm sure that some part of her still wishes that she was in the ring.

We all know that she was caught in the middle with regard to what happened with WWE and CM Punk. But now, this is a fresh new start and with AEW's significantly more relaxed schedule, there's always a chance that she could wrestle again. I know that she's incurred permanent damage to her spine, but things could have healed significantly.

Fans have yearned to see her return to wrestling. It could certainly be the case at AEW Double or Nothing.

#3 Okada helps Omega defeat Jericho

So, we know that Chris Jericho is not done with NJPW yet. He still has to take on the Rainmaker Kazuchika Okada at Dominion in a match that the world is talking about.

It is pretty clear that NJPW and AEW enjoy a pretty good relationship and it may just serve both promotions well to have the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion make an appearance at Double or Nothing. When Chris Jericho has the match won, he could show up and cost him the win.

By doing so, not only is Okada creating a talking point from Double or Nothing, but he is also bringing new eyeballs to the match at NJPW's Dominion. Bear in mind that Okada and Omega are considered to be the two best wrestlers in the world and have quite the history of their own as well.

Fans will love this surprise!

#2 Eric Bischoff announced as an Authority Figure for the Weekly show

When you look at the All Elite Wrestling promotional material, the similarities with WCW Nitro are impossible to ignore. It's not only the flames that are similar, but also the fact that AEW is on the same network- TNT. So, if there's going to be a weekly show who better to have as an Authority Figure than Eric Bischoff?

Eric Bischoff did the heel Authority Figure gimmick even before Vince McMahon did so, on Nitro. He was also an Authority Figure on WWE RAW and is considered to be the best RAW General Manager of all time. His name has mainstream value, and he could be a valuable addition to the AEW Weekly product.

Just his inclusion into the mix could induce old-time fans to watch. A lot of fans, myself included, miss the good old days of Nitro.

#1 Jon Moxley signs with AEW

As reported by my colleague Rohit Nath in another article for Sportskeeda, Jake Hager spoiled the fact that Jon Moxley will make his debut at Double or Nothing. This is reportedly what he had to say:

I don’t want to step in Jon Moxley’s shadow. I think that’s going to be a great debut for him, hopefully I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that’s where we see him at.

This is certainly the most anticipated debut at Double or Nothing and also the most certain one. There were references to this debut in the original Jon Moxley debut too.

Whatever the case may be, all eyes will be on All Elite Wrestling this weekend to see what the future holds for us all. Let's hope that the show is a hit and it forces WWE to step it up.
