Can John Cena win against Alberto Del Rio at the Hell in a Cell PPV?

John Cena

After Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero announced that John cena will be making his come back at Hell in a cell PPV to face Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship, there has been a lot of chatter from the WWE universe. Some positive and some negative, as is the case with Cena. John Cena fans are obviously elated that he is making his come back so soon (it had been announced that he would be out for 4 – 6 months, but he’s making his return within 4 months) and fans who dislike Cena are clearly upset with the WWE for bringing him back so soon.

These fans were very happy with the way the Randy OrtonDaniel Bryan feud had shaped up and for once WWE was doing bigger things without Cena in it. But if the recent ratings for RAW is anything to go by, the above statement is not so true.

Yes, “The Authority”, Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan angle breathed fresh air into the stale and uninteresting story lines that WWE had prior to this. But, this fued between the Authority, Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan has dragged on for too long. Hopefully, it will end at the Hell in a cell PPV. However, it will be good if the Authority story line continues though, the WWE title should be taken out of this equation.

Now, should John Cena beat Del Rio in his come back match? Well, it’s a tough one to call. It was being reported that Del Rio will be feuding with Rey Mysterio once he comes back from his injury and it would have suited well with Del Rio’s latest gimmick where he says that he is a role model and a hero for all the Mexican “peasants”. In all, this feud would be very interesting. Add to this the prospect of Damien Sandow cashing in his MITB contract, it would have made an awesome story line.

But with the sudden introduction of John Cena into the equation, the Del Rio – Mysterio story line has gone for a toss. Because if John Cena wins the World Heavyweight title, it will stay on him for quite a while (going by his past title reigns). This will surely spoil the prospects of superstars like Dolph Ziggler, who are looking for that one elusive push that brings them on the World Heavyweight title scene. What would happen to the return of Rey Mysterio in such a scenario? Rey’s feud with Del Rio would have been perfect for his return. The only person who is secure in this situation is Damien Sandow, who has a guaranteed match for the World Heavyweight title.

So, to avoid this tricky situation WWE should continue with Del Rio as the champion. The match could end with a DQ victory or some sort of out side interference. This way the title stays with Del Rio and he could feud with Mysterio, which will be a much more meaningful feud. After the Hell in the cell PPV, Cena can be pushed into the Authority story line. If Orton wins against Daniel Bryan (it is speculated that Orton is in the WWE title picture till January), then Daniel Bryan can be taken out of the WWE title picture for a while and have him in a full on feud against the Authority. This can culminate in the Survivor Series with a traditional Survivor Series elimination match. This could a be perfect start for the McMahon – Helmsley feud which is expected to carry on until Wrestlemania 30.

Think how exciting it will be when John Cena and Daniel Bryan team up! There is surely going to be a lot of ego tussle between these two, which can add an interesting element to the match (perhaps something like Team Hell No).

Hope the WWE takes the right decision to make things interesting again.
