WWE News: Chris Jericho hints at Kenny Omega rematch

<p>

What’s the story?

Well, just in case you've been living under a rock for the past couple of days...and actually, for the past few months, Chris Jericho faced off with Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12 in what has surely set the bar for match of the year already.

Well, the thought was that either this would be a one-off or that the pair would only clash again at a future WrestleMania, but Chris Jericho has hinted on Twitter that the rematch may happen later this year, on his cruise!

This was the reply to a fan who has already booked a cabin for the Rock n Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise.

In case you didn’t know…

Chris Jericho announced his Rock n Wrestling Rager in the early autumn of 2017 to take place in October 2018. The line-up is already absolutely huge with Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler joining Y2J on the cruise.

There will also be an exclusive Ring Of Honor tournament on board the ship called the Sea of Honour, where the winner will be in line for a future World Championship shot - and stars already set to appear are Cody and Brandi Rhodes, The Young Bucks, Dalton Castle and The Briscoes, with more to be announced.

The cruise also boasts an impressive musical line up with Jericho himself performing in Fozzy on board, as well as Phil Campbell of Motorhead in his new band, Kyng, The Dives, and the Cherry Bombs alongside two huge tribute acts.

There will also be appearances from Mick Foley, DDP, Raven, Rey Mysterio, Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, SoCal Val and there will be loads of live podcasts from the cruise too - as well as comedy from Jim Breuer, Ron Funches and Brad Williams.

The heart of the matter

Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega absolutely tore it down at Wrestle Kingdom 12, so it's no surprise that people are already clamouring for a rematch.

Contractually, Kenny Omega is currently signed to NJPW, but to put it lightly, they have a very good partnership with ROH which often sees some talent share happen. Given that Chris Jericho has ROH on board, and obviously has a great relationship with Omega and NJPW, this one definitely isn't as farfetched as it first seems.

Chris Jericho isn't scheduled to wrestle on the cruise as of yet; in fact, it's the only thing he won't be doing - although we all know Y2J wants everything to be the biggest and best it can be, so that could change at the drop of a hat or a scarf.

You never know, there could even already be a deal in place...

What's next?

Well, all eyes on Twitter and all ears on Talk Is Jericho, which seems to be where Y2J cleverly releases his exclusive information now. The cruise takes place from the 27th of October until the 31st, so there will no doubt be some more huge announcements to come!

Author’s take

This is bittersweet in a way. It would be absolutely groundbreaking if Alpha v Omega 2 happens in the middle of an ocean, and absolutely incredible for those in attendance, but there are currently no plans for a broadcast or stream from the cruise, so it limits who will be able to see the cruise.

That may make it more likely to happen, or perhaps Y2J may pull some strings and stream some of the Rock n Wrestling Rager at Sea live on social media.

Either way, it would be monumental in the world of wrestling, so fingers crossed these two clash again!
