What's the story?

Former WWE and WCW Legend, Bill Goldberg, is set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on the WrestleMania 34 weekend. He will be headlining this year's Hall of Fame and is the only wrestler to be announced so far.

The latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Paul Heyman is the person who will be inducting him, at least according to the current plan.

In case you didn't know...

Goldberg returned to WWE after a 12-year wrestling hiatus, in 2016, and had a feud with Brock Lesnar. Goldberg would beat Lesnar at Survivor Series in an astonishingly short time and would go on to win the Universal Title from the then title holder, Kevin Owens.

He finally lost the title to Lesnar at WrestleMania, who has held it since then. Goldberg's last match 12 years ago had also been against Lesnar, though things had turned sour after the fans had gotten to know that both wrestlers would be leaving the company after their bout.

The heart of the matter

During Goldberg's last run with the company, Heyman cut insulting promos about him. Now it looks like Heyman is set to talk about Goldberg yet again, only this time it is to induct him into the Hall of Fame.

It is fitting that Paul Heyman will induct Goldberg, as he is one of the people with whom Goldberg's last run was indelibly linked. Heyman is one of the best talkers in wrestling history, and will likely give Goldberg the induction that he deserves, bringing the house down with his skills.

It is still too early to say that Heyman is the final choice, before WWE announce it.

What's next?

The Hall of Fame ceremony is set to take place on the 6th of April, in New Orleans, during the WrestleMania 34 weekend. The rest of the 2018 Hall of Fame class is yet to be announced.

Author's take

There are quite a few others who could induct Goldberg given their history with him. Brock Lesnar is one, but it is difficult to picture Brock inducting anyone, other than maybe Paul Heyman some day.

The Rock, Triple H, Chris Jericho have all had their encounters with Goldberg. Lastly, Kevin Nash comes to mind as a potential inductor, given his long history with Goldberg, in WWE and WCW.
