WWE veteran Vince Russo recently shared his thoughts on the scary incident in 2020 when a stalker barged into Sonya Deville's home to kidnap her. Former WWE star Mandy Rose was also at Deville's place at the time.

As expected, the incident sent shockwaves across the wrestling world. The perpetrator, Phillip A. Thomas II was deemed medically unfit in 2021 to stand trial in court, resulting in the case being closed. He was subsequently transferred to a mental facility. However, when the case was reopened recently, the 24-year-old was found guilty and sentenced to a stringent 15 years in jail.

Vince Russo discussed the situation on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Outlaws. Russo believes any sane person would never go ahead and try to commit such an atrocity. The veteran added that only someone with a twisted mindset could execute something like that.

"That's just hard for me because something's gotta be wrong with you for doing that. A normal person would just not do that. That's why it's so difficult to understand, bro, because you gotta have some kind of warped mindset to do something like that." (5:46 - 6:10)

The incident had taken a toll on Sonya Deville

Last year, while appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Sonya Deville revealed how much the incident mentally drained her. The RAW Superstar explained that though she tried to calm herself on the day the incident occurred, she struggled to cope and was scared even to enter her neighborhood.

"It’s been a crazy ride, and you never know something like that is gonna happen until it happens," Sonya Deville said. "And you don’t know how you’re gonna feel about something like that happening until it happens. I’ll just say, the day of, I was like, ‘Oh, everything’s fine. I’m gonna go sleep in my house tonight.’ And then by the time nightfall came I was – like, couldn’t even drive to the neighborhood. So, it’s crazy."

Sonya Deville is gearing up for a big match on the May 29, 2023, episode of WWE RAW. She would team up with Chelsea Green to take on Bayley & IYO SKY, Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler, and Raquel Rodriguez, alongside a partner of her choice. The tandems will compete for the vacant WWE Women's Tag Team Championship in a four-way match.
