WWE News: Mauro Ranallo deletes all WWE-related tweets

Mauro Ranallo seems to be distancing himself from the WWE

What’s the story?

After removing WWE references from his bio yesterday, Mauro Ranallo has now deleted all of his tweets related to the WWE, including a tweet in which he’d acknowledged his absence from the WWE commentary booth.

In case you didn’t know...

Mauro Ranallo is a Canadian sports announcer and commentator who has served as a play-by-play commentator on SmackDown, 205 Live as well as SmackDown Pay-Per-View events from 2015 until his recent leave of absence from WWE a few weeks back.

Ranallo has also served as a commentator in boxing, kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

The heart of the matter:

The series of WWE-related references deleted from his social media account includes a tweet on March 24th wherein he’d stated:

“I’m deeply touched by your tweets of support. My doctor wants me to stay off social media for now but I wanted to thank you.”

Furthermore, Ranallo also removed a tweet in which he’d addressed his absence from Wrestlemania 33:

“Feeling love from everyone. I am stronger. I want to wish my @WWE family another AMAZING #Wrestlemania #KeepUpTheGoodFight #MentalHealth.”

Mauro’s prolonged absence from the WWE is being attributed by several members of the pro-wrestling community to his broadcasting partner JBL’s (John Bradshaw Layfield) alleged bullying.

Neither Ranallo nor the WWE have officially confirmed his current employment status with the company.

What’s next?

As we had reported earlier, Ranallo’s close friend and podcast partner Bas Rutten revealed that he’s currently undergoing treatment for his bi-polar disorder and is recovering well.

He’s expected to be back in the weeks to come on the Rutten & Ranallo podcast, although a return to the WWE commentary booth may not be on the cards.

Author’s take:

Ranallo has been one of the most vocal advocates of mental-health awareness and holistic wellness since being diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 19.

Regardless of whether or not he returns to the WWE, he will always be remembered as the Voice of SmackDown. We, here at Sportskeeda, wish Mauro Domenico Ranallo a quick and speedy recovery.
