WWE News: Fans get rowdy during SmackDown LIVE Women's title match

It was during this match that the crowd got rowdy

What’s the story?

The post-WrestleMania crowd is known to be quite a raucous one, and with SmackDown now being live, that crowd stuck around Tuesday night.

Known for taking over the show, the fans started chanting “Asshole” during the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship match between Alexa Bliss and Naomi.

In case you didn’t know...

The WrestleMania crowd always seems to stick around for the Raw after, and now SmackDown has been added to their schedule as well. WWE likes to step their game up around this time, making sure that they don’t give the WWE Universe too much time to take attention away from their product.

SmackDown LIVE had a whole arsenal of surprises for the WWE Universe, including two big call-ups from NXT.

First, Curt Hawkins challenged anyone to a match, leading to the “Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger’s debut. The crowd erupted in a chorus of “10” chants.

Afterwards, Miz and Maryse were interrupted by a violinist, building up the suspense for the debuting Shinsuke Nakamura. With the King of Strong Style finally appearing on the main roster, the crowd seemed to be beyond satisfied, that is, until someone irritated them.

The heart of the matter

Last night, a couple of people in the crowd were met with a chorus of boos and "Asshole" chants. The chants were directed towards Kenny McIntosh from WhatCulture, who had decided to spoil the fun that the crowd was having.

At a certain point during the Women’s title match, some fans blew up beach balls and started tossing them around. Kenny McIntosh began catching and popping any ball that came his way.

McIntosh even ended up Tweeting about this:

He would go on to Tweet or Retweet about the incident, finally ending the night with this.

It appears that McIntosh took a stand on the beachballs and stuck with it till the very end.

What’s next?

WrestleMania Week is officially over, and the crowds will calm down more as we move past The Ultimate Thrill Ride.

As we move forward in the year, the next PPV is Payback on April 30th. So far, there isn’t much known about it, although it can be assumed Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho, Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe will all be involved in some way.

With the addition of the Hardys and The Revival, even the Raw tag team Division has gotten stronger.

However, all of that could change next week. Vince McMahon has announced a “Superstar Shake-up” which many believe will be some sort of a mini draft between the two brands. WWE will most likely not flesh out Payback until after the dust has settled next Monday Night.

Author’s take

Personally, I feel McIntosh and the rest of the WhatCulture crew did the right thing. Many fans nowadays seem to randomly chant things to have fun instead of paying attention to what’s going on in the ring.

Sometimes they break out beach balls to bounce around instead of respecting the matches. I’m sure it’s irritating for fans who actually watch the show and it probably offends the wrestlers and anybody else associated with the product as well. I support McIntosh on this one.
