Top WWE star (not Gunther) will win King of the Ring, says veteran, for major reason

Wrestling veteran Matthew Rehwoldt (fka Aiden English) believes Jey Uso will win the King of the Ring tournament. The former Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion is currently in the semi-finals.

After failing to capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Backlash France, Jey Uso advanced to the semi-finals of the King of the Ring tournament after defeating Finn Balor in the first round and Ilja Dragunov in the quarter-finals. He will now square off against Gunther.

While many fans and experts expect The Ring General to win the tournament, Rehwoldt thinks otherwise. He claimed on the Rebooked podcast that Jey would be the new King of the Ring for a significant reason despite Gunther being a logical and likely choice:

"To me, Gunther is a very logical and very likely choice. (...) But I think it's gotta be Jey. Jey has been touted around this main event and everything, beating Roman, being put in these main [events] but hasn't won sh*t. He needs to win. This is a great chance to prop him up with a little bit of an attaboy without just being like, 'Yeah, he's the main event' and lose. 'Yeah, he's the main event guy' and lose. 'Yeah, he's the next big guy' but he loses. Like, he needs to win something, doesn't have to be a title. That's why this is perfect for him," he said. [11:20 - 12:00]

WWE might stop Jey Uso's singles push, says veteran

Since quitting The Bloodline and moving to RAW, Jey Uso has received a significant push as a solo competitor. He received multiple opportunities to capture a singles title.

However, many expect the 38-year-old to soon reunite with his twin brother, Jimmy, for the upcoming chapter of the Bloodline storyline. On the Busted Open podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray pointed out that the company may stop Jey's singles push for that reason:

"[I have a feeling that eventually, we're gonna see Jimmy and Jey Uso back together again.] And this is why the push might be to a certain level. They might be going: 'All right, we're gonna get him right to here. But then we're gonna stop it because the plan is to get them back together for The Bloodline story, which will take precedent over Jey Uso getting over on his own,'" he said.

Winning the King of the Ring tournament would be a big step for Jey Uso as a singles competitor ahead of his potential reunion with his twin brother and possibly Roman Reigns. It would be interesting to see if he can overcome Gunther in the semi-finals next Monday on RAW.
