Having recently been drafted from SmackDown to RAW, the Intercontinental Champion Gunther has a whole new list of challengers for him to battle.

The Austrian won the prestigious title last June, with him now having held the belt for 333 days, making him the longest Intercontinental Champion of the 21st Century.

During a recent interview with Cathy Kelley on RAW Talk, Matt Riddle, who has never won the Intercontinental title, stated he would like to face The Ring General following the Draft.

"With the WWE Draft just happening with all the new competition here like Gunther and new titles. The World title, the Intercontinental title on RAW, the sky’s the limit.” [2:44 - 2:54]

Matt Riddle will no doubt be determined to pick up a win soon after he, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens lost to the Bloodline in a huge six-man tag team match this past Saturday at Backlash.

Former WWE manger on Gunther's potential

Since moving up to the main roster last year, the 35-year-old has impressed both the fans and company higher-ups, bolstering his WWE stock in rapid succession.

Speaking on his Story Time podcast, former WWE manager Dutch Mantell (a.k.a Zeb Colter) said he would like to see the current Intercontinental Champ face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal title at WrestleMania 40 next year.

"They could put it on Gunther," Mantell continued. "That would be a good one, and I think Gunther versus Roman, that may be WrestleMania next year." [28:41 – 28:55] (H/T Sportskeeda)

Since capturing the Intercontinental Championship last year, the Austrian has defeated many top stars, including Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Braun Strowman, Rey Mysterio, and Shinsuke Nakamura.
