Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso defeated Austin Theory and Grayson Waller on WWE SmackDown this week. The former nearly spiked himself while hitting a move during an important moment in the contest.

Rhodes and Uso arrived on SmackDown to issue an open challenge for their Undisputed Tag Team Championship. The two won the titles at Fastlane from Judgment Day.

Austing Theory and Grayson Waller answered their call and looked very confident throughout the match. However, Cody Rhodes finished off Theory with the Cross Rhodes to win the match for his side.

In the contest's final moments, Rhodes nearly spiked himself while hitting the penultimate move. He and Jey went for their new tag team maneuver, leading Cody Rhodes to nearly land on his neck and head again.

The new move is a combination of The Usos’ 1-D and The American Nightmare’s Cody Cutter. However, this was the second time Rhodes botched the move this week, as he nearly picked up an injury during their title defense against Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens on RAW.

Check out the clip from the botched move below:

The American Nightmare is supposed to land safely on his back while completing the move. However, he nearly landed on his neck and turned inside out as he finished it.

Once again, Cody went for the Cross Rhodes to pick up the win instead of pinning Theory following the tag team maneuver. It’s a spot that many believe should not be continued by The American Nightmare.

Cody Rhodes faced off against his former opponent on WWE SmackDown

"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes and “Main Event” Jey Uso were successful in their second title defense this week. It’s only been a week since they won the titles, and they have already proven to be great fighting champions.

After defeating Austin Theory and Grayson Waller, the two babyfaces were making their way up the ramp. Roman Reigns’ music hit, and The Tribal Chief walked down to confront the new champions.

The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion stared a hole into Rhodes, while Jey and Jimmy Uso came face to face. It looks like WWE wants to continue the tensions between The American Nightmare and The Tribal Chief, especially if they will once again collide at WrestleMania 40.

It could be one of the reasons the two men won the Undisputed Tag Team Championship in the first place. The titles will allow Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso to appear on all three brands of WWE.
