WWE Hall of Famer Edge is set to return to the ring this week on SmackDown. It will be his first match since defeating 'The Demon' Finn Balor inside Hell in a Cell at WrestleMania 39. The Rated-R Superstar meets a couple of former rivals on Friday as he looks to get one step closer to the World Heavyweight Championship.

Edge will take on Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles in a Triple Threat match on the blue brand. The winner will advance to the semi-final of the world title tournament in the show's main event, the other Triple Threat on Friday pits Bobby Lashley, Austin Theory, and Sheamus against each other.

Having faced Mysterio and Styles at very different stages of his legendary WWE career, Edge can have a first-time-ever match on SmackDown if he wins the Triple Threat contest. The seven-time World Heavyweight Champion has never faced Bobby Lashley or Sheamus before, both of whom would be great opponents for him.

Whoever is in the main event of SmackDown, the winner will advance to the tournament final at Night of Champions. A World Heavyweight Title match against either Seth Rollins or Finn Balor lies ahead, following the Triple Threat matches on WWE RAW. The Visionary might be the one to go to Saudi Arabia, as he is the favorite to win the big gold belt first.
