WWE News: WWE gives new hints about who will run RAW after Mick Foley's dismissal

Stephanie McMahon fired Mick Foley last week on Monday Night RAW

What’s the story?

There have been a lot of rumours as to who will be running Monday Night RAW this week after Stephanie McMahon fired Mick Foley.

WWE added fuel to the fire by covering a story on their website that gave new hints at to who would be the in-charge of the go home show of Monday Night RAW just six days before WrestleMania 33.

In case you didn’t know...

Mick Foley’s run as the RAW General Manager ran its course last week as Stephanie McMahon fired him on RAW. Stephanie was at her vicious, heelish best when she told Mick Foley in front of his home crowd in New York that she had two words for him, and those two words were, “You’re fired.”

The heart of the matter

In a teaser for this week’s episode, WWE highlighted the fact that Monday Night RAW was without a manager for the first time since the brand split. Without a General Manager, the show is doomed to descend into chaos with just days remaining for the biggest event of the year, WrestleMania.

The subtle message here was that Stephanie might very well take the reins for the last RAW before the Ultimate Thrill Ride, WrestleMania 33. The following message was posted on the website:

Now, mere days before WrestleMania, Raw is left without a GM, and with so many high-profile Team Red matches at The Ultimate Thrill Ride on April 2, one wonders if Stephanie is looking for someone new to quickly fill the vacant position, or if she will take on the responsibilities of running the show herself, as she did on Monday after Foley was forced to leave the building.

Either way, Raw's management — or lack thereof — should prove interesting in Philadelphia this Monday night.

WWE also ran an article on WWE.com speculating about who the next RAW General Manager might be. The names of Kurt Angle, Eric Bischoff, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Jim Cornette, and Edge were among the contenders for the position of the new RAW General Manager.

What’s next?

Monday Night RAW will air from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia this week.

Huge names such as Goldberg and Brock Lesnar have been advertised for the show. Although the Undertaker has not been promoted for the night, there is a strong possibility that the Deadman might make an appearance much to the chagrin of his WrestleMania opponent, Roman Reigns.

Author's take

It was earlier reported that WWE was not looking to utilise the talents of Mick Foley after he was done with his sabbatical. Mick had a good run as the General Manager, and the WWE are now looking to move on and seek out a new Superstar or legend to fill Mick’s shoes and create new storylines.
