The Rock's WWE return has been the talk of the wrestling world over the last few months. In an exclusive interview, WWE referee Charles Robinson shared his thoughts on two things that surprised him about the Hollywood star's comeback.

In January, The Rock appeared on RAW before being confirmed as a new board member of WWE's parent company TKO. He also turned heel before WrestleMania XL, where he and Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins the night before Rhodes beat Reigns.

The former WWE Champion embraced his villainous persona by swearing a lot on television. Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Robinson admitted he did not expect to hear so much non-PG language:

"Yes, I was [surprised about The Rock's language]. But, hey, it is The Rock and he is the boss. He's the boss. He writes his own rules, Bill. You should know that! No, it's not fair to the rest of the guys, but it's The Rock," stated Robinson. [1:53 – 2:24]

Asked whether The Rock's new TKO role is a good or bad thing, Robinson gave a light-hearted response:

"Come on, Bill, what do you think?! I think it's probably a great thing. Yes, because I'm kissing his a** right now. That's exactly what I'm doing. I think I'll keep a job for another week," said Robinson. [2:43 – 2:59]

Charles Robinson was also surprised by The Rock's initial WWE return

WWE advertised the return of a former world champion ahead of the January 1 episode of RAW. Jinder Mahal introduced himself as the returning star before The Rock unexpectedly appeared.

Charles Robinson had no idea The Final Boss was going to feature on the show that night:

"Well, I was very surprised when he showed up. He's the biggest movie superstar in the world and he found time to come work with us. So, yeah, I was surprised," said Robinson. [3:11 – 3:20]

The Rock is currently taking a break from wrestling to film an MMA movie, The Smashing Machine. On the post-WrestleMania XL episode of RAW, the 51-year-old participated in a segment with Cody Rhodes to further their ongoing storyline before taking a hiatus.
