Ranking all the Current Champions in WWE

Who's the strongest and weakest Champion in WWE right now?
Who's the strongest and weakest Champion in WWE right now?

WWE is arguably the biggest wrestling promotion in the world right now. Most of the wrestlers who are in WWE have worked day and night to get to where they are. These wrestlers love what they do, and being in front of thousands of fans, entertaining them is what makes them love their jobs.

Being a champion in WWE is a big deal. It means that the higher authorities believe in you to lead the locker room, and set an example for others to give your best. WWE and Vince McMahon have often been accused of putting the Championship on a wrong candidate, thus leading to the title losing its credibility.

Currently, there are 9 Championships on the main-roster (RAW and SmackDown) - Universal Championship, WWE Championship, RAW and SmackDown Women's Championship, RAW and SmackDown Tag Team Championship, Intercontinental Championship, United States Championship, and the Women's Tag Team Championship.

In this article, let's take a look at all the current champions, and rank them on the basis of the quality of their title reign, their performance as champions, crowd support, and the overall credibility that they bring to WWE and their brand as the leaders. Feel free to share your opinions and views in the comments section below.

#9 The IIconics - Women's Tag Team Champions

These two are good heals, but it's tough to take them seriously!
These two are good heals, but it's tough to take them seriously!

The IIconics dethroned the former Women's Tag Team Champions, Sasha Banks and Bayley, at WrestleMania 35 in a fatal-four-way match to become the second ever Women's Tag Team Champions.

While these two certainly have been working so hard to get women's tag team wrestling the status that it deserves, their run with the titles so far has been, unfortunately, disappointing.

I get it that they are heels, but the way they carry the titles and act, it decreases its credibility. Especially considering that these titles are very new, they need proper champions who can make them look like a huge thing.

Peyton Royce and Billie Kay constantly losing in singles and tag team matches after WrestleMania, is also not helping them. With all due respect to the IIconics, the sooner WWE takes the titles off them, better it will be for the Women's Tag Team division.

#8 The Hardy Boyz - SmackDown Tag Team Champions

The Hardy Boyz became eight-time WWE Tag Team Champions!
The Hardy Boyz became eight-time WWE Tag Team Champions!

Matt and Jeff, The Hardy Boyz, defeated the former SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Usos on the SmackDown after WrestleMania 35 to become 8-time WWE Tag Team Champions.

But what looked like a promising run from the veterans, is seemingly in danger of being cut-shorted abruptly due to an unfortunate injury to Jeff Hardy. They would have surely been high up on this list if Jeff was not injured and they performed regularly. I'd like to wish Jeff Hardy a healthy and quick recovery.

#7 Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder - RAW Tag Team Champions

Too much investment for a WrestleMania moment?
Too much investment for a WrestleMania moment?

Curt Hawkins broke his famous losing streak of 269 Matches at WrestleMania 35, when he along with Zack Ryder defeated the then RAW Tag Team Champions, The Revival, to win the red tag belts.

This win was majorly scripted to give Hawkins a WrestleMania moment, but in a bigger perspective, this was not a very wise decision. They lost on RAW to the debutants Viking Raiders (/Experience/Warriors) and are looking set to lose their Titles soon. With teams like The Usos on RAW now, them being the champions feels weird and underwhelming.

#6 Samoa Joe - United States Champion

He has definitely been one of the better US Champs in recent memory!
He has definitely been one of the better US Champs in recent memory!

Samoa Joe has held the US Championship for quite some time now, and he has definitely uplifted its status. Though there's still a lot that was not done properly in his reign so far. Him losing on SmackDown a couple of times after being champion, an underwhelming match against Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania were a few moments that could have been avoided.

But if we look at his recently teased feud against Braun Strowman, these two can kill it out in the middle and make the US Championship great again. Two monsters battling it out for the US Championship is exactly what the title needs after a disappointing 2018.

#5 Finn Balor - Intercontinental Champion

Balor has been a fighting champion ever since his victory at WrestleMania 35!
Balor has been a fighting champion ever since his victory at WrestleMania 35!

The Demon King, Finn Balor, defeated Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 35 in a convincing fashion to win his 2nd Intercontinental Championship.

Ever since, he has been a fighting champion, defending his title on various occasions on both RAW and SmackDown. He first defended the IC title against a returning Sami Zayn on the RAW after WrestleMania. Then he went on to face Andrade the next week on RAW in a non-title match and then faced Mustafa Ali on his first night on SmackDown, successfully defending his title.

Balor also successfully defended the IC Championship against Elias in the WWE Network Special, The Shield's Final Chapter. All and all, he has been the busiest champion on TV. The Intercontinental Championship is considered a workhorse's title, and Finn definitely fits the nickname.

#4 Kofi Kingston - WWE Champion

KofiMania ran wild at the Metlife Stadium on April 7th!
KofiMania ran wild at the Metlife Stadium on April 7th!

Kofi Kingston is one of the many examples of how your hard-work ultimately pays off, even if it takes some time. After his incredible gauntlet match performance, Kofi suddenly rose to the top of the roster and became a top fan-favourite, so much so that he won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35.

But as has been WWE's problem with not being able to continue the intensity once a superstar actually wins the championship that he/she has been chasing for a long time, I have started fearing this might become the fate of Kofi as well.

He did show great intent on the RAW after WrestleMania, by challenging the Universal Champion Seth Rollins for a unification match, but ever since has been having fun with New Day. A champion should not dance his way to the ring. There has to be a certain level of seriousness that Kofi needs to maintain, now that he is the WWE Champion.

With Kevin Owens turning on him last week, these two are looking set for a clash at Money in the Bank and I'm definitely looking forward to it.

#3 Seth Rollins - Universal Champion

The Universal Champion that we all needed!
The Universal Champion that we all needed!

Seth Rollins saved Monday Night RAW and its fans by defeating the Beast Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35 to bring back the Universal Championship to where it belongs - on Monday nights.

The title on him looks way more authentic now and feels like the champion actually cares for what he carries around all the time. Rollins has been the face of RAW since almost a year now and is the ideal candidate to be the top champion.

He has carried around the title with him everywhere, from house-shows to even NXT events, and has given the fans the guarantee that he will give his best to entertain them all and become a worthy champion.

His first challenger is a dream opponent for him, AJ Styles. Styles won a mini-tournament last week on RAW to become the #1 contender for the Universal Title. It'll be interesting to see what do these two have in mind for their rivalry, as they will clash for the title at Money in the Bank.

#2 and #1 Becky Lynch - RAW and SmackDown Women's Champion

Becky has managed to carry the fire inside her!
Becky has managed to carry the fire inside her!

Becky Lynch created history at WrestleMania 35, as she became one of the three women to have headlined the Show of Shows for the first time in history. She defeated Ronda Rousey and Charlotte in a "winner takes all" match to become the RAW and SmackDown Women's Champion.

With her winning the title, fans have a lot of questions in their mind as to how her run as the dual champion would fair. One of the biggest questions, that I've discussed in detail in another article of mine, has been - will she defend both her titles on each PPV?

Well, surprisingly this is what Becky 2 Belts plan to do at Money in the Bank as she will be having two separate matches against Lacey Evans and Charlotte for the RAW and SmackDown Women's Championship, respectively.

She is legit carrying forward this division to new heights, and though I think she'll drop one of the titles soon, her contribution to making Women's Wrestling such a big deal for fans is of epic proportions.
