What's the story?

Earlier this months, Chris Jericho announced that he was launching his "Rock 'N Wrestling Rager at Sea" - a five day cruise from Miami to the Bahamas that leaves port October 27th of next year.

And, while Jericho has announced that there will be plenty of entertainment (of both the rock and wrestling varieties), we've gotten word that a certain North American wrestling promotion will be holding a tournament on said cruise... and it's not the WWE.

In case you didn't know...

This is far from the first wrestling related cruise theme in the history of cruises. Some of you younger readers may not remember the jot that was the WCW Bruise Cruise back in the early 1990s, featuring WCW stars such as Ric Flair, Lex Luger, Sting, and the Steiner Brothers.

The heart of the matter

Well, Jericho's cruise is apparently not an official WWE event (despite putting it over on WWE.com at the time of the announcement), it looks like there is a promotion that wants to, um, get... on board (I am so sorry) - Ring of Honor.

The "Sea of Honor" tournament will be held on the cruise - on the actual boat. Details of the tournament itself - such as the format or competitors - have yet to be revealed but, hey, we have a year left to go.

What's next?

Well, as mentioned above, there's well over a year before the cruise actually sets out to sea - and chances are the ROH roster will probably be significantly changed from how it is now. The winner, however, is set to recieve a ROH World Championship match, which will certainly tie into any major storylines happening at that point of time.

Author's take

I'm not entirely surprised WWE didn't decide to send talent onto this cruise. Weird stuff happens on cruise ships and the last thing WWE needs is to come back to the States with an ancient murmaid curse or something. It's also kind of hard to get excieted about somethig I have no chance in hell (cue DX band!) of going on. But, if you're going, I'm sure you'll have a lovely time.
