What’s the story?

Earlier today, top American wrestling promotion Ring of Honor announced on their official Twitter handle that Canadian actor Stephen Amell is all set to appear at this year's ROH: Survival of The Fittest event, which takes place later this month in San Antonio.

In case you didn’t know…

Survival of The Fittest is an annual wrestling tournament that is held by Ring of Honor every year. The tournament first started in 2004 and has taken place every year since— with the exception of 2008 and 2013.

In this tournament, ROH wrestlers usually compete in numerous qualifying matches and the winner of the tournament receives a shot at the company's World Championship in the future.

The Survival of The Fittest tournament is previously won by the likes of Daniel Bryan, Adam Cole, Seth Rollins (then known as Tyler Black), and the latest winner being Undisputed Era member Bobby Fish who’s currently in NXT.

The heart of the matter

Ring of Honor made a huge announcement earlier today, that famous Canadian actor Stephen Amell, who is mostly known for his work as playing the role of DC’s superhero fictional character, called the Green Arrow, will make a special appearance for the company later this month in San Antonio.

Stephen Amell himself posted on his official Twitter account confirming the news that he is all set to ‘invade San Antonio’ along with the Bullet Club, on 18th November during the Survival of the Fittest event.

Bullet Club members Matt and Nick Jackson also confirmed the news on social media, along with current ROH World Champion Cody Rhodes, with whom Amell has a lot of history from their WWE days. The two men faced each other in a tag team match back in Summerslam 2015 and Cody would also make a special appearance for Amell’s Green Arrow show.

Rhodes also added that current Bullet Club leader Kenny Omega was the first surprise they had in store for all ROH fans, as it was confirmed in November that “The Cleaner” is also set to appear during the event and with Stephen Amell being revealed as the second surprise for all ROH fans and wrestling fans in general.

What’s next?

However, speaking of the Bullet Club, their former member and 2015 Survival of the Fittest winner Adam Cole will also be in action later this month, on the very same day as ROH: Survival of the Fittest, as NXT is also set to invade Houston on 18th November. The main-event will witness Adam Cole vs Drew McIntyre for the NXT Championship, with Shawn Michaels being the special referee.

There have been a lot of speculation that NXT is trying to go head-to-head with ROH as both the promotions are set to step foot on Texas soil on the very same day, thus this might go on and prove why ROH has decided to bring in Stephen Amell for their show, come November 18.

However, it has not been confirmed yet what Stephen Amell’s role will be on the night but with Bullet Club members tweeting about it, it seems like that ‘Green Arrow’ himself might be involved in a storyline with the infamous Japanese faction.

Author’s Take

Personally, I am excited to see what Stephen Amell brings to the table come November 18 and what his role is going to be on the show. But, one thing is for sure that with Amell’s announcement ROH will surely boost their ratings and ticket sales a lot more now.
