WWE Rumors: No plans to use Mick Foley again, even after his hip surgery

Mick Foley will not be included in any major WWE storylines in the near future.

What’s the story?

WWE does not intend to use Mick Foley in its storylines in the near future. It’s essential to note that his current hip surgery-hiatus is not the main reason behind this decision.

In fact, the company helped Foley regain his health insurance - something the Hardcore Legend had been waiting for, for quite some time. Nevertheless, the WWE head-honchos seem to be of the opinion that Foley’s current stint as RAW’s General Manager may have run its course.

In case you didn’t know...

Mick Foley (real name Michael Francis Foley Sr.) has been a staple of the pro-wrestling industry since 1986, winning the WWF Championship, TNA World Heavyweight title, Legends title, the WCW, WWF and ECW tag-team titles and the WWF Hardcore title, to name a few.

His tenure as the on-screen General Manager of Monday Night Raw lasted from July 18th 2016 to March 20th 2017, with WWE owner and authority figure Stephanie McMahon firing him from his GM duties on the latest episode of Monday Night RAW.

The heart of the matter:

WWE management will not involve Foley in an on-screen capacity in the near future, something that’s further evidenced by the company posting a list of potential replacements for RAW’s GM position on its official website.

Foley’s potential successors include big-names such as Kurt Angle, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Eric Bischoff, Jim Cornette and Adam Copeland aka Edge.

What’s next?

Mick sent out a few tweets to the WWE Universe regarding his departure from RAW, including a tweet by his daughter Noelle Foley:

He is scheduled to undergo surgery on his right hip in the next few weeks.

Author’s take:

Mankind aka Cactus Jack aka Dude Love aka Mick Foley is one of the wildest performers the pro-wrestling industry has ever seen. After retiring from the squared circle as a performer in 2012, he has continued to work with the WWE in some capacity or the other.

His tenure as RAW’s GM that lasted less than a year was relatively lukewarm, but his on-screen appearance itself would more often than not garner a huge pop from the WWE Universe. Regardless of whether or not WWE involves him in an on-screen segment in the future, his legacy as a legend of the game is already secure.

Here’s wishing Mick Foley the best of luck in his future endeavours.
