How does Seth Rollins compare to other members of The Shield?

The Shield

It is beyond any doubt that Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose were a big deal in the independent circuit. They are the future of the WWE if utilized to their creative potential. Roman Reigns was Leakee, who had a handful of matches in NXT with an undefeated streak but no one expected him to make the cut into the main roster as much as Ambrose and then Rollins.

Ambrose versus Rollins is still a dream match for a small amount of the WWE’s socially networked hardcore wrestling community of fans.

Ambrose seems to be in the natural habitat of a heel and Rollins seems to be his opposite. Though Rollins is doing a good job as a heel member of the Shield, the company seems to be showing Reigns as the intimidating powerhouse, Ambrose as the deviant, eccentric and unstable promo guy and Rollins seems to be the guy with great high flying skills and being on the losing end in having possibly the best matches and best chemistry with Daniel Bryan.

Of all the Shield members this past Monday, Ambrose was in the spotlight for firstly being a Singles Champion and having an awesome match with the Dolph Ziggler. Reigns was in the main event and Rollins was just great at selling Bryan’s kicks. All this is testament to how much positive spotlight Ambrose and Reigns are enjoying.

Rollins, on the other hand, seems to be the most exciting wrestler of the three. He sells moves like he’s seriously hurt and it seems heroic rather than overselling when he finally gets back up and continues matches without a glitch. Ambrose, for all the frenzy around him, hasn’t quite shown that sort of fast paced excitement in the ring neither has Reigns.

Some might say that his hair is a problem. Some might say his voice is weird. But these arguments are simply ridiculous. If at all, WWE stars are weird and there is nothing as overstated as a ‘main event look’.

Sure WWE follows a certain formula as far as bodies and mannerisms of a star are concerned but a certain body can only get you so far. The audience is much more aware and if anything, Rollins will always enjoy a certain fan base.

Though Ambrose has exceptional promo skills and Reigns has the body and the look, Rollins can be a great baby-face, and if he has Ambrose as his adversary of the future generation, then that can only mean that money has been spent well by WWE’s creative unit.

That does not mean that Rollins only needs Ambrose to become a big deal but the prospect of having them face each other on a bigger stage is a much more exciting prospect and for that Rollins has to be the first brother or member of the Shield to leave and become a face.

Though no cracks have been shown but if they lose their titles then that could be the first sign of a crack. If the Shield break up then the Corporation storyline becomes weaker, so the break up might take place next year.

The Shield could also go together for a while as there are many stars, who have a better chance in the main event picture as singles superstars than any one of them, and the Shield are much better off as team, a singles future for all of them devoid of being part of the Shield looks like a distant future. But it’s worth the wait if it’s promising.
