Almost every wrestler has a finishing move – one that puts the opponent down long enough to get the 3 count. But there are only a few wrestlers who have submission moves that can make their rivals tap out. Here are 5 of the most devastating submission moves from different wrestlers.
Sharp Shooter
As good as Bret Hart was as a technical wrestler, he had various signature moves that he used to wear down his opponents. He was particularly adept at the suplex, the bulldog as well as the elbow drop from the second rope.

But his finishing move, the sharp shooter, was a devastating manoeuvre which more often than not left the legs of the opponent in bad shape. The pain was excruciating, ensuring that the opponent taps out very quickly. Here’s an example of the sharp shooter.
Hell’s Gate
The Undertaker already had 2 fantastic finishing moves that his opponents don’t have an answer to – Choke Slam and Tombstone. But the phenom did not confine himself to these two. Rather, he gave himself another option to use, just in case his opponent was not submitting to any of his moves.
Enter Hell’s Gate. It is a variation of the gogoplata, a move in Judo. The Undertaker adapted it very successfully in the WWE, making opponents tap out to it.

Crippler Cross Face
Chris Benoit may now be notorious for what happened with him and his family, but before all that happened, he was known as one of the best technical wrestlers in the business.
And as any good technical wrestler should possess, he had a submission move that would make his opponents tap out in no time – the Crippler Cross Face.
Benoit would wrap his hands around the opponent’s face while scissoring one of his arms and then pull back the head so that there would be a lot of pressure on the shoulders as well as the back.
Not many have been able to get out of this one!
Walls of Jericho
Chris Jericho is one of the most charismatic wrestlers in the WWE. He has many moves to his name that he uses from time to time to defeat his opponents, like the codebreaker.
But there is one move that has always helped win his matches has to be the Walls of Jericho. It is a move that locks the spine of the opponent while he lies face first on the mat, making it impossible for him to break the hold. And with Jericho’s body on him, the pressure would be too much to bear.

Ankle Lock
Ken Shamrock was the first to introduce this to the WWE Universe, but it was Kurt Angle who made it famous, using the move to win many a memorable match.
The move, as the name suggests, is executed by getting hold of the opponent’s ankle and twisting it as much as possible, leaving the opponent writhing in pain. If not unlocked quickly, it could do a lot of damage to the leg, making it difficult for the wrestler to even stand.
