What's next for the Shield?

The-Shield

This week on Monday Night RAW, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns lost their tag titles to the Rhodes Brothers. This added to the list of continuing events which have showcased that the Hounds of Justice are not invincible any more. This leaves Dean Ambrose as the only champion in the Shield. Will the WWE do the expected thing and make Ambrose lose the title soon enough or will they let him hold the title for a little while longer?

As it is with stables, eventually all of them break up. They might regroup again only if they were popular while they were together. The Shield has had quite a run as the dominant three man tag team in the WWE since their arrival in November 2012. They’ve made their matches a spectacle every time the bell rings and a match commences.

The teamwork displayed is immense and in just a short span they accumulated quite a few admirers from the wrestling fraternity and the WWE Universe alike. Also the team members in themselves have individually garnered quite a following.

Dean Ambrose is considered to be Vince McMahon’s best asset in terms of future superstars. His deviousness can take him up the WWE hierarchy. Seth Rollins is thought to have a few similarities with CM Punk and many predict him to have a great future just like Punk. He can be a great babyface and according to hardcore wrestling fanatics, undoubtedly, he can have a great rivalry with a hell in Dean Ambrose.

Roman Reigns, on the other hand, did not have many followers before he became part of the Shield. He hasn’t been part of the independent circuit like Ambrose and Rollins. But he’s been a fiery surprise. With his aggression and tactics which has established him as the powerhouse of the Shield, Roman Reigns seems to inhibit everything that is there is to the ‘WWE Look’.

But if Dean Ambrose loses the US Title, it can still be assumed that the Shield will be together. They are going through a storyline downfall but they can go through the downfall together. And if Ambrose keeps the title, it can turn out to form a crack in the team and hence a crack in the Authority.

Another scenario is that Rollins and Reigns regain the tag titles but that will be taking out most of the momentum that Cody Rhodes has had. But the sight of Shield losing again and again is something we’re not used to. So if there is a losing streak that awaits the Shield on pay per views then be ready for it.

The titles on the babyface team of Cody Rhodes and Goldust can lead to the Real Americans to have a title shot at them as they are catching the audience’s attention week after week and the ‘We the People’ chants are having more and more takers.

Suffice to say that the Shield should remain a team as the WWE creative seems to be out of ideas for at least some of its solo superstars. If the Shield splits they should have all three stars involved in great storylines. Going down from the momentum these three talented youngsters got from being part of the team is not just unfair but also bad for business.
