What's the story?

All Elite Wrestling shocked the world at the turn of the year by outlining their plans to be a major player in the wrestling business - but how are WWE reacting?

Well, Triple H himself has spoken out after being asked about the upstart promotion on his NXT conference call.

In case you didn't know...

At the huge AEW launch event several weeks ago, Chris Jericho appeared at the end of the Double or Nothing Rally to send the wrestling world into meltdown. Just days after the news of his signing for All Elite Wrestling shocked the world, though, Jericho posted a photo on Instagram of himself and Triple H, tagging WWE and paying tribute to The Game.

The heart of the matter

On his NXT TakeOver conference call today, Triple H was asked by Jason Powell about the change of dates over WrestleMania weekend whereby TakeOver switched with the Hall of Fame. Without mentioning any promotions, Triple H said it was about not making fans choose what they want to go see - an interesting point with ROH running a show at Madison Square Garden.

More interestingly, though, Powell brought up the elephant in the room of AEW and asked if it changes anything with NXT. Triple H said that it's clearly something he will keep their eye on and they will do what they feel is right for their business. He said that, as content providers, they compete against everything so you have to watch and monitor everything, but he reiterated that they will continue to do what's best for WWE.
