Wondered why Christian wasn’t there on RAW this week after a tremendous match against Orton last week? The answer to that is that Christian suffered a pretty bad concussion during the match.
WWE.com posted the following on their site.
WWE Superstar Christian suffered a concussion during a match with WWE Champion Randy Orton on the Aug. 26 edition of Raw, according to WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann.
“We’ve pulled him out of all activity,” said Amann. “His ImPACT scores are normal, but he’s still having some symptoms of fogginess and cloudiness.”
He continued, “We are waiting for symptoms to get better until we perform an in-ring exertional challenge later this week at the Performance Center in Orlando. At that point, if he’s able to get in the ring and exert himself, and work without symptoms, we’ll go ahead and clear him [to compete].”
The reason for this concussion could have been the huge fall Christian took after Orton dropped him out of the ring. This concussion comes as a huge blow for the veteran who is at the moment in his last possible WWE run.
Despite him being able to provide the best matches, he hasn’t been able to stay away from injuries. More than a decade of wrestling has taken a toll on his body and made it fragile.
Looking at the list of injuries that he has been through, is it time for Christian to hand up his boots? Clearly he seemed to be in the best of shape and gave us top class matches, but the fact that his body has become prone to a lot of injuries will make it difficult for WWE to put him in a top storyline.
He returned only recently after a two year recovery period from shoulder and ankle injury and now that he is out again, there will be a lot of questions over his future as a top star.
His present run in WWE has been pretty good in terms of his match quality, but the same cannot be said about the booking. After losing a World Title match against Del Rio at SummerSlam which many believed was his last chance at the title, WWE writers don’t look very clear about his next feud.
Christian has been given a lot of TV time but hasn’t been in any credible storyline at the moment which not many were happy with. But now with this concussion, it looks as though Christian will have to spend more than a few weeks in recovery and will need to reconsider his future role in the company.
