WWE Monday Night Raw Preview: December 5, 2016

The Boss has the gold

SmackDown rolled out TLC this Sunday night, and now, the torch has been passed to Monday Night Raw. The red brand needs to have a buildup towards Roadblock, and now that TLC is out of the way, it is possible that we could witness a shift in focus.

Last week, the main talking point of Raw was the Women’s Championship match between Charlotte and Sasha Banks. Sasha regained the gold after a great match, and the fallout of the same would be a segment to watch out for, this week.

There were some other exciting developments as well, throughout last week’s show and on this list, we are going to take a look at how all of this will impact the latest edition of Monday Night Raw.

#5 Debut coming up?

Is Revival going to debut?

One of the major storylines on Monday Night Raw currently is the Tag Team reign of New Day. New Day is currently on a record-breaking run and if they remain champions until December 14, the team will break the record set by Demolition.

Teams like The Club, Cesaro & Sheamus and many others have tried to dethrone New Day recently, with no success.

An interesting thing that happened this past week was Scott Dawson, who is one-half of the NXT tag team, The Revival, posting a picture of Demolition on his Twitter handle. The Revival is inspired by former WWE tag team ‘the Brain Busters’, who happened to end the record-breaking run of Demolition.

Was Dawson indicating at a debut from Revival on Raw? We will find out on Monday Night.

#4 Swann comes with the gold

The new champ

The first episode of 205 Live aired last week. The Cruiserweight-exclusive show was WWE’s idea of giving them a platform to perform and showcase their skills. While the idea was great, the execution seems to be falling flat on the ground.

Taping the show right after SmackDown is proving to be a costly mistake and the lack of fanfare in the first episode itself, was a major setback.

Despite the negatives, one major talking point was Rich Swann’s title win. He won the title from Brian Kendrick, and this is certain to shake up the entire Cruiserweight division. The way the fans react to Swann this week on Raw would give an idea of how he would perform going forward as a champion.

#3 Sami Zayn heading to SmackDown?

Zayn to SmackDown is a possibility

Sami Zayn is someone that rarely explodes. However, last week an entirely different Zayn was on showcase, and he went off at Mick Foley. The relationship between Foley and Zayn is not apparently going good and with rumours surfacing about a potential trade, a segment involving Zayn and Foley is bound to happen this week.

Sami heading to SmackDown is a real possibility and if it happens this week on Raw, the road to Royal Rumble would get interesting. Also, Zayn has many opportunities in SmackDown, where the lack of roster depth will provide him with a great platform to rise to the main event level, which he cannot reach easily on Raw.

#2 Sasha on top again

Boss back with the gold

The ‘hot potato’ booking of the Raw Women’s championship continued this past week when Sasha Banks regained the gold from Charlotte. When the match ended up attracting appreciation, the title change drew criticism.

After her loss, Charlotte went on to note that she is going to get her championship back, which might indicate at another match between Charlotte and Sasha.

WWE’s plans to continue the feud would be put into motion this week on Raw, as Sasha would arrive as the new champion. However, the state of the other wrestlers in the division needs to be improved before WWE takes such a path.

#1 Building the main event feuds

Going to be double champion?

The whole WWE Universal championship scene that WWE had before, was split into two, last week on Raw. While Roman Reigns earned his shot at the Championship, Seth Rollins took out Chris Jericho. The Roman Reigns – Kevin Owens match is official for Roadblock and the backstage attack of Rollins on Jericho could mean that they could also be added to the card.

The involvement of Reigns in the Universal championship is bound to provoke fans and they are likely to be vocal about this as well. The way WWE tries to bypass this hate, will prove to be a subplot heading to Roadblock. The picture, nevertheless, would be clearer this week.
