WWE News: Another match added to the Backlash card

Tye Dillinger has been undefeated since joining the main roster...

What’s the story?

The WWE Twitter account just announced the kickoff show match for this Sunday’s Backlash pay per view. The “Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger will take on the “Drama King” Aiden English during the hour-long show before the main card.

In case you didn’t know...

It was a long road for Dillinger to make it in the WWE. He signed a developmental deal with Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in 2006. He actually would be the first tag team partner of Cody Rhodes when he was in the territory and would become the OVW Tag Team Champions shortly after forming the team.

The heart of the matter...

This will be the pay per view debut for the highly popular Dillinger who made his main roster debut the Smackdown Live after WrestleMania. It will also be the singles pay per view debut for English since the WWE released his tag team partner Simon Gotch this past April.

Dillinger will look to continue his undefeated streak since being called up on the main roster; while English will try not to break down in tears if he loses again to Tye.

What’s next?

The last Smackdown Live before Backlash will air in just minutes. It is possible that there will be a segment featuring both wrestlers to further this mini-feud before Sunday.

Author’s take...

I’m a huge fan of Tye Dillinger so it is great to see him have a spot on the first pay per view for Smackdown Live since he joined the roster. As for English, I have enjoyed the gimmick he has personified since turning to singles competition. It is actually the gimmick he had before forming the Vaudevillains with Gotch.

Since Dillinger is a fan-favorite, this will be a great match to warm up the crowd. I fully expect Dillinger to get the win followed by some loud TEN chants from the Chicago crowd.
