WWE News: Justin Roberts says Triple H is still burying talent, gives a WrestleMania example

Justin Roberts called Triple H the most insecure person he’s ever met.

What’s the story?

Justin Roberts recently spoke to the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast about Triple H’s tendency to bury talent and went on to cite a WrestleMania example regarding the same.

The former ring announcer also opined on his book allegedly being controversial and gave his thoughts on the JBL-Mauro Ranallo controversy.

In case you didn’t know...

Justin Roberts is a former WWE ring announcer who worked for the company from 2002 until his departure in 2014. The 37-year old recently released his autobiography Best Seat In The House, a book that chronicles his tenure with WWE.

The heart of the matter

Roberts alleged that Triple H, whose job is to build talent and ‘put them over’, always had the habit of burying up-and-coming performers in order to feed his ego.

"There are a couple of things that come to mind that I write about in the book. When he was going to be wrestling The Undertaker at WrestleMania he basically said he went into the locker room and he looked around and there was nobody for him and nobody at his level besides The Undertaker.

So here is a guy in charge of building talent saying that no talent is up to his level and that is why he got to fight the Undertaker at WrestleMania again.“

“At the same time when they did that storyline with the roster walking out on the company and he basically came in the ring and said how everybody is outside but he could have a better match with a broomstick than most of the guys anyway. He's always doing whatever it takes to make himself look like Superman and to put everybody else down.

He's probably the most insecure person I've ever met. Constantly needs people around him telling him how great his ideas are and laughing at his jokes and he buries talent."

Besides, he also opined that Triple H has always been pushed by Vince McMahon to be the company’s top guy and no one else would dare challenge that.

Furthermore, Roberts also took a shot at Triple H’s apparent U-Turn on his approach towards wrestlers from the independent circuit. He said that HHH used to make fun of performers from the indies in the past, but now that most of WWE’s prized acquisitions, especially ones from the sport of football, have failed to connect with the pro-wrestling fans, Triple H and WWE management have started to sing a different tune.

What’s next?

Roberts’ autobiography is out in stores. However, he’ll continue to make more media appearances to promote it, so expect to hear more from him in the near future.

Author’s take

Justin seems to be going all out in his criticism of his ex-employers and won’t be returning to the company anytime soon. I refrain from judging either party on this issue; and with regards to HHH being criticised for not ‘putting over’ other guys, it is pure rubbish.

All the top guys including the Rock, Steve Austin, Hogan, CM Punk, Reigns, you name it…Each and every one of them is in the game for themselves and given a chance to step into HHH’s shoes, would do the same things he does. Kings recognise Kings!
