WWE News: Triple H addresses possibility of Women's Tag Team Titles in NXT

What's the story?

One of the biggest things to come from the 'New Era' announcement from the McMahons was that they would be adding Women's Tag Team Titles to the company.

Since the titles were added to the main roster only earlier this year, Triple H was asked about the possibility for the same happening in his brain-child, NXT. 411Mania.com carried transcripts of his answers at the NXT Takeover: New York conference call.

In case you missed it...

Originally, there were only two championships for the women of WWE to pursue on either Raw or SmackDown. The idea of adding a set of tag team titles for the Women's division had been kicked around with the brand split and the rosters growing larger than ever before.

WWE introduced a set of titles for the women at the Elimination Chamber PPV earlier this year, with Bayley and Sasha Banks becoming the first-ever Women's Tag Team Champions.

The heart of the matter

As the WWE roster has experience an immense amount of growth with the inception of NXT as a default developmental program for WWE, the desire for more titles also grew.

The demand for the Women's Tag Team Titles was addressed and granted in January with several teams battling it out in the Elimination Chamber for the right to be the first-ever champs.

If female superstars were not a champion or being booked to challenge for the title, they often didn't have much in the ways of title aspirations.

Since WWE added the titles to the main roster, Triple H was asked about the same happening for the women of NXT, who only have the NXT Women's Championship to strive for.

When asked about that realistic possibility for the Women Tag Team Titles of NXT, Triple H answered that:

"I'm isn’t sure they are needed at this point since the current ones are not limited to one brand'. That roster depth is important when making decisions like that."

NXT may have a lot of women under its banner as well, but many of them are new to wrestling as a sport or to the WWE style itself.

What's next?

With the titles being introduced to the main roster only a month or so ago, it would seem a little like overkill to add a set of them to NXT.

The titles were created to be defended across all of WWE, including NXT, so they at least are included with that.

Perhaps creating a secondary title for the women of NXT to chase would make more sense as they continue to grow and learn the craft rather than being thrust into positions they weren't ready for, like Dana Brooke initially and Nia Jax were with premature call ups.
