WWE Night of Champions: Wrestlers who deserve to win at the PPV

Night of Champions is about a week away and we still have two titles that haven’t been challenged yet. In a PPV that claims to have every Championship title defended, having the Intercontinental title and the Tag titles left out doesn’t make sense. Time’s running out for WWE, as it has to start finding some credible challengers for these titles.

Speaking of the PPV card, there are a few wrestlers who are badly in need of a victory to prove their worth in WWE. These wrestlers, despite their talent, have not been able to make it to the top courtesy some bad writing. Let’s hope these wrestlers are able to make some sort of an impact at NOC; and here we have a few wrestlers who must win to create some amount of relevance to their character or current position.

1. Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler

The Show Off has nothing show of late and after a brief title run where he lost to Del Rio, Ziggler has been all over the place, unable to settle to a steady storyline. His hot run ended after a severe concussion, and ever since, Dolph has been struggling to find his way up.

With a match against Dean Ambrose, Ziggler’s chances of victory are pretty low. But the prospect of him winning the US title match isn’t too cheerful either. From nearly being a World Heavyweight Champion, Ziggler is now challenging the US title. Though the returns of the win aren’t that great, Dolph still needs the win to stay relevant in whatever storyline he’ll be put into next. As far as I see it, Ziggler should beat Ambrose and then join hands with Bryan to face off against the corporation.

2. CM Punk

CM Punk

After his loss to Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, Punk’s feud with Heyman has gone dull despite a beat down by Heyman & Axel two weeks back. The feud’s relatively silent now and Punk’s constant bashing at the hands of Heyman & his clients has hurt people’s belief that he will be able to get his hands on Heyman. Heyman, on the other hand, has always managed to stay one step ahead of Punk’s plans, which now seems blinded by his rage.

It is time for Punk now to turn the tables and fight back to win against Axel, who doesn’t look very plausible as an obstacle for Punk. Unlike Brock, Axel lacks that ferocity the big man had. I would expect Punk to beat Axel down pretty convincingly and move one step closer to getting his hands on Heyman.

3. Damien Sandow

Damien Sandow

Forget about winning a match, Sandow has to find a match in the first place. Damien Sandow is the most probable future WWE World Heavyweight Champion courtesy the Money in the Bank briefcase. But ever since winning the case, Sandow has been on a losing streak, losing almost to anyone he faces.

In fact, he even lost to R-Truth in Main Event, which shows how low this guy has gone from being the man closest to winning the World title. Plus with Cody Rhodes gone, Sandow practically has nothing to do but job to other wrestlers.

Things can change a bit provided Sandow wins a match on the big stage. After losing all his matches till now on RAW and SmackDown and other shows, Sandow must create an impression that he manages to get things right at the big stage, such as a PPV. However, by the look of things the best we can expect is for Sandow to appear in the pre-show and probably win. As far as Sandow cashing in his briefcase is concerned, one has to say that he looks too weak at the moment to be a believable Champion.

4. Natalya

Natalya

How long has it been since we’ve seen the Queen of Harts hold the title? A very very long time. Natalya is hands down the best Divas wrestler on the roster today. AJ is the only other wrestler who can manage to get close to her, and there is Paige in NXT waiting for her main roster call. Keeping her away from the title picture is indeed a very sad thing that the Divas division had to go through. But now things are starting to change.

Natalya is now in a Fatal Four Way match against her two Total Divas comrades and the champion AJ Lee. While many feel it is AJ who will retain the title, Natalya needs to step up and head into the title picture. After AJ’s shocking and provoking promo this can be the best way Natalya responds. The other two contenders are nothing but fillers, as both have almost zero chances of getting close to a title victory. Brie is too bad a wrestler/actor to be convincing as a champion and Naomi is too early in her career to get a title run.

Also, AJ Lee attacked the four Total Divas stars with some help from the Divas roster in WWE last week. From the looks of things, we can expect these two groups led by AJ & Natalya to fight over the Divas title and therefore dominance as the strongest Divas group in WWE.
