WWE Rumors: John Cena's WrestleMania match on the verge of being cancelled?

... and John Cena immediately joins him in the squared circle!

What's the story?

It's been weeks since the rumours of Lars Sullivan's pending debut got cancelled due to anxiety attacks. There was even a slight confirmation of the events via a social media representative about the issue.

However, according to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio, Sullivan still hasn't made it backstage, putting his rumoured WrestleMania 35 match against John Cena in serious jeopardy.

In case you didn't know...

Lars Sullivan was supposed to debut either late December or early January, taking out John Cena after he declared entry into the Royal Rumble match. This was supposed to set up a WrestleMania feud between the two, but Sullivan reportedly suffered an anxiety attack and was sent home.

Since WWE is now more used to dealing with mental health issues thanks to Mauro Ranallo and how open he's been about it, they reportedly decided to give Sullivan some time to recoup.

The heart of the matter

Dave Meltzer said on the Wrestling Observer Radio that Lars Sullivan was expected to be back for the tapings in the latest episode of RAW, but he didn't appear. As a result, his chances of having a match against John Cena are growing "slimmer and slimmer", with plans potentially even being cancelled. He proceeded to say:

"The guy they wanted to make in the Superstar but he was not gonna win the Rumble was Lars Sullivan. They really wanted him back last Monday and obviously, he was not back so I don’t know what’s going on. Well, he’s not ready to be back, that’s all. I don’t anticipate him not being with the company but as each week goes by, the idea of him wrestling John Cena gets slimmer and slimmer. It may even be out the window right now, I don’t know.”

It's possible that WWE may replace Cena's opponent with Drew McIntyre. Do remember that McIntyre was credited for the kayfabe injury that took John Cena out of the Royal Rumble match.

What's next?

We can't emphasize enough on how serious mental health issues can be. Anxiety attacks and such are no joke and must be taken care of with patience and professionalism. We hope that even if Sullivan's WrestleMania match is cancelled, he comes back on time and in good health.
