WWE Rumors: WWE still don’t know what the House of Horrors Match will be

WWE unclear about House of Horrors

What’s the story?

According to the rumour roundup on CageSide Seats, WWE still does not have a clear idea as to how the ‘House of Horrors’ match between Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt would look.

In case you didn’t know...

Bray Wyatt was drafted to Monday Night Raw during the Superstar Shake-up. This was supposed to put an end to the Bray Wyatt – Randy Orton storyline. But WWE surprised everyone by going ahead with the ‘House of Horrors’ match between the two.

The match was initially planned to take place at SmackDown’s Backlash pay-per-view, but the last minute move of Bray to Monday Night Raw made WWE rebook the match for the Raw exclusive show, Payback.

The details regarding this gimmick match still remains a mystery and the internet has been buzzing about the possible ways in which WWE could book it. It marks Randy Orton’s first title defence after winning the WWE Championship from Bray at WrestleMania 33.

The heart of the matter

Rumour has it that the WWE is yet to lay down a plan for the House of Horrors match at Payback. With no clear idea about the match, WWE has apparently resorted to surveys to gauge what fans would like to see.

This is reportedly the reason WWE hasn’t made any mentions about the rules and regulations of the match. No matter what WWE comes up with, the WWE championship will be on the line for the match.

What’s next?

With Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt in two different brands, WWE will have to put in some extra effort to build this feud. The pay-per-view is a couple of weeks away and if the rumour is indeed true, WWE should sort things fast.

We are bound to get a better picture of the match will look like in the coming weeks and one has to tune into both Raw and SmackDown to stay updated.

Author’s take

The essence of the brand split is the exclusivity of Superstars to their respective brands. A top level champion of SmackDown Live defending his title in a Raw exclusive pay-per-view, first of all, is a step backward.

As for the House of Horrors match, WWE is known for some horrible gimmick matches and some excellent ones. House of Horrors has the potential to fall into either of these categories. And as WWE is yet to plot a perfect plan, the chances of a disaster are high.

It wouldn’t be surprising if WWE tries to incorporate some advice from Matt Hardy, who excelled with gimmick matches back in Impact Wrestling.
