WWE SummerSlam: 2 new matches announced, new matches revealed for WWE NXT:Takeover

Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose are slated to team up against Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper at SummerSlam

- Two new SummerSlam matches were announced at Tuesday’s WWE Smackdown tapings: Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose teaming up against Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper and Ryback defending his Intercontinental Title against Big Show and The Miz. The tag match was set up at Battleground when Harper helped Wyatt beat Reigns in a singles match. Since Ambrose is a close friend of Reigns, it makes sense to do the tag match. The original plans called for Sting to be a part of it to make it a six man tag, but that was scrapped when Erick Rowan suffered a torn biceps injury. On the contrary, WWE apparently doesn’t want to use Sting in a match even though he’s said to be in great shape.

As for the IC Title, the plan was to do Ryback vs. Big Show vs. Miz at Battleground, but Ryback suffered a staph infection prior to the match. Since Show announced the match at Smackdown, WWE is likely optimistic that Ryback will be ready to defend the title at SummerSlam. If not, maybe they will vacate it and then just do Big Show vs. Miz for the title.

Below is the updated SummerSlam card coming out of last night’s tapings:
