One of the most confusing parts about Minecraft is just how many versions there are of it on the market. The two most apparent versions of the game are Bedrock and Java Editions. There's also a difference between the regular bundle of the two versions and the Deluxe collection, which normally costs 10 USD more than the base.

However, thanks to Minecraft's 15th anniversary, the Deluxe Edition is only five dollars more, making it an incredible deal and very much worth its price to new players. This is, in large part, due to the bonus content included with the bundle.

Why Minecraft Deluxe is worth its price

Minecoins

The first extra addition listed under the Deluxe Edition is 1600 Minecraft Minecoins. These coins are the premium currency Mojang added to facilitate transactions on the Minecraft Marketplace.

1600 Minecoins would normally cost $9.99 USD. This alone makes the Deluxe Edition of better value than the regular version at the moment, but these Minecoins are only one included freebie.

Maps

There are five maps included with the Deluxe Edition to keep gameplay fresh and exciting. These worlds are:

  • Skyblock One Block (160 Minecoins)
  • Hacker Tools (490 Minecoins)
  • Pets Collection (990 Minecoins)
  • Parkour Spiral (310 Minecoins)
  • Original Bed Wars (830 Minecoins)

The total value of these five maps, when converted back to USD from Minecoins, is roughly $18 USD. These maps also touch on a wide range of different playstyles.

Skyblock One Block should be entertaining to those who enjoy Minecraft challenge playthroughs, while Parkour Spiral and Original Bed Wars will appeal to those who enjoy the title's best minigames.

Pets Collection and Hacker Tools are also amazing survival worlds that should make any regular playthrough much more memorable.

Texture Pack

The Deluxe Edition also comes with a single texture pack to use on survival worlds to make Minecraft's prettiest biomes look even better. This is the Clarity texture pack by Pathway Studios, which normally costs 830 Minecoins. It would cost $4.99 USD for 850 Minecoins, making this a five-dollar value.

Clarity is a 32x32 texture pack that aims to make the game look more realistic and immersive. It also features a totally custom UI, which is a nice feature as many texture packs leave the UI alone.

Clarity is undoubtedly an amazing Minecraft texture pack, and it certainly makes the Deluxe Edition an even better deal.

Skinpacks and Character Creator Items

The final collection of features included with the Deluxe Edition are all related to customizing the player model. There are three skin packs included in the Deluxe Edition:

  • Spy Mobs (160 Minecoins)
  • Cute Anime Teens (310 Minecoins)
  • Cute Mob Skins (160)

These skin packs add 32 potential skins for players to choose from and have a total value of roughly $4 USD after converting from Minecoins back to real-world currency.

There are also five character creator items and three emotes included. These emotes are:

  • Fishy Dancing (310 Minecoins)
  • Dual Dancing (660 Minecoins)
  • Secret Handshake (Free)

These items would cost roughly $6 USD after converting back from Minecoins, pushing the value of the Deluxe Edition even higher. In fact, the total value of the extras included with the Deluxe Edition is about $43 USD. This is a considerable amount of value for those interested in the Marketplace's contents but not yet totally convinced to sign up for the Minecraft Marketplace Pass.

Finally, the five character creator items included are:

  • Ruby Sweater (Free)
  • Lapis Croptop (Free)
  • Ruby Kilt (Free)
  • Obsidian Overalls (Free)
  • Obsidian Wanderer (Free)

These items don't cost any Minecoins due to them being Deluxe Edition exclusives. They might not technically add value in Minecoins, but their exclusivity is worth mentioning.

Ultimately, most of the Deluxe Edition bonuses apply only to Bedrock Edition. This means that players uninterested in Bedrock might want to pass this deal up.

However, the Deluxe Edition is worth considering for new players even remotely interested in Bedrock.
