Fernando Alonso has asserted that his goal is to win the F1 World Championship this year.

The Spaniard is unquestionably a key player in this 2023 F1 World Championship. F1 aficionados are not surprised by Fernando Alonso's performance. His championship debut with four podium finishes and a fourth place with Aston Martin has once again shown that he always pushes the limits of his cars.

Fernando Alonso has competed in Formula One and won 32 GPs and two titles. Speaking to the New York Times, he admitted that he still has athletic goals in addition to, of course, other things.

"Winning a championship would be something perfect. If I won another World Cup, all these years away from the previous one, it would be something unprecedented. That's my goal for the time being." He said.

With Benetton, Alonso won the world championship in 2005 and 2006. The former Ferrari driver expressed his happiness at being recognized for something he already enjoys. When asked what other goal he has in life. He said:

"I want to have a family. This is the biggest dream of my life. I haven't been able to do it yet because of my lifestyle. It's something that, when I stop running, I'll find happiness."

Alonso's talents and expertise are having an impact in addition to the team of Lawrence Stroll's technological advancement. The Spaniard's start to this season looks very strong and there is nothing stopping him from getting more wins with his new team.

F1 Champion explain why Fernando Alonso is better at this age

Formula One legend, David Coulthard has proposed a theory explaining why, unlike Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso has been able to maintain performance levels near his peak while getting older.

Alonso has finished on the podium four times in the first five races of F1 2023. He is placed comfortably third behind the two Red Bulls in the drivers' standings. The Spaniard, who is the oldest driver on the grid at 41, has had a phenomenal start to the year.

Coulthard discussed the underlying factors of Alonso's success in the most recent episode of the Formula Success podcast.

"When Alonso stepped away from F1 the first time, he went straight into sports cars, IndyCar, he did the Dakar, he’s got a kart track and you see him out testing his karts at his facility in Spain, so the uninterrupted being in the mode of being a racing driver, and all of the things that that keeps sharp in your mind. There’s the expression, ‘Don’t let the old man in" he said.

Fernando Alonso will be turning 42 in July and has performed very well despite his age. While Schumacher notably made his F1 comeback with Mercedes in 2010 after a three-season absence, he found it difficult to regain his pre-retirement form.
